Does Anyone Know Any Drs That Prescribe Oxycodone In Kitsap County Wa? Or Just Any Advice Regarding My Situation??
UpdatedI have been managing my chronic pain illegally for a long time because I have not had insurance. I was originally prescribed oxycodone 15mgs years ago after an injury. Roughly two years later I changed jobs, moved to a new state, and am now self employed and for the first time in years I have insurance.
Total it has been about 8 years since I last had medical coverage and seen a Dr., this whole time I have been "self medicating" illegally. I know that sounds really bad and I am ashamed to say it BUT the reality is I am in constant pain and I couldn't afford insurance OR the mandatory monthly visits to maintain a prescription to a narcotic pain reliever. Not to mention the $200+ bill to fill the prescription monthly.
Now that I am insured and starting to become successful I am worried that most Dr.s will automatically assume I am a common street addict looking for a fix if I just walk straight in and tell them my situation truthfully then ask them flat out to start me out on my regular dosage of 60-90 mgs a day. Also, explaining how I have been living and functioning normally for 8 years without any valid prescriptions on record will be a very difficult conversation to have and to explain.
I still have severe pain from the old injury but it was years ago and out of state, tracking down the records for it would be a nightmare. Hindsight is 20/20 and I know that what i have been doing is wrong. I understand that.
I have worked very hard to get myself to a point where i can afford not only my standard bills but also the bills of running a business, paying for medical attention just wasn't plausible for me, until now...
Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this? I want to be legitimate. Always have just haven't had the money. I would not be a business owner if i was not able to work due to pain for the last 8 years.
Does anyone know a Dr. in the Kitsap County WA. area that is down to earth, east to talk to, understanding, and may give me a shot at proving that I am not a street addict. I am a normal person that works hard for a living and just made a bad decision years ago.
Please help me make an education decision on this.
Thanks!
J=)

Well, due to the new regulations that were put in place this year, if you require such medications on a long-term ongoing basis for the treatment of chronic pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. A general practitioner won't be able to prescribe them.
And you're correct, if you go in and tell them that you were getting such drugs illegally, then they are going to assume the worst and not want to prescribe you anything.
As annoying as it may be, your best tactic would be to just start anew by cooperating with a doctor and getting any tests and etc. that they want you to get and trying the medications that they recommend.
Learn more Oxycodone details here.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
You may actually find that something works better for you than the Oxycodone, or perhaps a non-drug treatment options that works well.
Does anyone else have any advice to add?
