Toprol contains no blood thinners. Tou might be taking too much. I had to rachet up my dose but then down a little. I went from 50 mg to 100. Being too much I split the dose to half am then other 50 @ noon (with food). Eventually went to 200's, split dose, half am then other 100 mg @ noon (with food). New source of med. & prescription (different Dr.) is back to 100's. I take 1 am, other noon, think pills are by different manufacturer, so the slow rellease part of the formmulation is off a bit and I don't now what to do now. I think they release a bit faster, so I'll start with 50 am and an hour later the other 50, then 50 more after noon, etc. Oddly I took them originally for PVCs and it helped. I was in transition of lowering my BP with Flax oil and Selenium with difficulty. Finally cut out cholesterol altogether and when I have no drug my BP and heart rate are very low (and that's without exercise). You do what you can.
