Does Movantik Work Better Then Linzess

Hello, I have been on Hysingla and Norco now for a few years due to chronic back pain and multiple medical issues. I had been on Linzess for 2 years and it worked at first but not any longer and I also have IBS. My Gastro doctor gave me a script today to start Movantik ( I can't take my Linzess for 2 days before I start these ) I would like to know what other people are experiencing on this drug, constipation has become a big problem for me and I really want these to work. I would appreciate any input from others on their experience with it, Thanks so much.

Hello, Donna! How are you? Have you started taking it, yet?

As with any medication, there are people it works great for, but some don't have great results with it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, stomach pain, gas, and headache.

Can anyone else that's tried it chime in?

Hope all is going well.
I had been taking Linzess290 mc with little effect .Then my GI started me on Movantik
25 mg along with the linzess and it's been all good news since

Horrible nausea about 2 hrs after taking movantik, bad cramps sweating and weakness after .....I actually considered call 911 today as after taking movantik I was to weak to stand!

I also have degenerative disc disease and LBP and been on Fentanyl for ten years. The OIC is the worst. somethings that have helped include prune juice, usually a glass a day, and I have started for the past year, of adding Metamucil fiber. It really helps, and is better than just the regular pills. I used to take a bark from the west coast. My mind is blank, and that worked so well but studies showed that it might cause stomach/intestinal cancer if used for more than two weeks at a time. Cascada Segrada, that was the name, it worked wonders! I used it for many months....there was no option.

For now, Ive been asking my MD to prescribe drugs like Movantik, i just want to try them out, but he doesnt listen to me, and doesnt RX them so I may try to go to another medical clinic. I am now living in Canada where there is a horrible shortage of MDs, and it took me 2 years to find a GP. I was lucky to find one.

So, I wonder if you can tell me how you have fared with the Movantik? I am glad i found this chat room because who else would understand the effects of OIC and Fentanyl and these medications? No one else. We look fine on the outside, right, but on the inside....and then there are all the side effects....I’m hoping that maybe stem cell research for tx people like us with LBP might make some gains in the next decade
