Does Metronidazole Cause Cancer?

I'm finishing a 7 day, 3 X a day, 500 mg dose of flagyl/metronidazole because I was having pain under the right side of my ribs, abdominal tenderness and I have a lump on the right side of my back which the doc said was muscular. My worst symptoms of the meds were some unsteadiness and abdominal pains (I didn't call my Dr.), now I'm having a few headaches. Does it cause brain cancer, because I read it is carcinogenic?

If it did cause such an issue, it would not occur that fast. Cancer is generally slow growing.

It is most likely just due to the side effects of the medication, which the FDA does list as including headaches, along with nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, and stomach pain.

However, it never hurts to have such an issue checked out by your doctor to be sure.
