Doctors Willing To Prescribe Pain Meds Sacramento Area
(Newest replies first)
Updated
Does anyone know of caring physicians in the Sacramento, CALIFORNIA area willing to prescribe pain meds for chronic pain? I have suffered from severe chronic pain due to 2 herniated disks and sciatica for 17 years. Current physician retired and no doctor I've seen to date is willing to fill my existing Oxycontin and per cover scripts. Any help in finding a doctor is appreciated.

Please tell me who it is.
Re: Al (# 5)
I totally forgot about this until I just saw an email, and yes his first name is Reed. Odd u mentioned HMO & we had a PPO so not sure about that. Anyway, I hope you found someone.
I would like the name of the doctor. What state and city?
Re: Al (# 8)
Hey there Are those concierge doctors any good? I’ve got pretty major back issues which started from when I broke it! I’d be interested if you happen to have a decent doctor I’ve been dealing with this for several years now
Re: Al (# 1)
LOOK UP PAIN DOCS IN YOUR AREA. THE HIGHEST DOSE OF OPIOIDS MOST DOCS WILL PRESCRIBE IS 100MG EQUIVALENT MORPHINE. 90 MGS OXYCODONE IS 20-40MGS ABOVE THAT MORPHINE EQUIVALENT. SOMEBODY WILL WANT TO REDUCE THAT DOSE.
Re: Al (# 8)
Hi Al, I just read your post, my name is John and I have had severe chronic back and neck pain for years I have had a total of 12 fusions done on my spine, and still have severe stenosis. I have found that one or 210 mg Norco every six hours works well for me. I do not want anything Stronger than that, my last fusion was February of this year I plan on going through extensive physical therapy until June of next year and then going to try to get off the medication. My doctor would like me off sooner. But that is just not possible I want to have a productive life. I would like the name of that doctor please.
Re: Al (# 8)
Hey Al, can you please provide me with that doctors infomation. My doctor got cited and will no longer fill my prescription, I’m in need of a doctor ASAP to avoid withdrawals as I’ve been on my medication for 10 plus years. Thank you.

Did you ever find a reliable pain management doctor?
I do have a prescription of methadone, however, i need to find a different dr. because my dr that im seeing now said she can only help me for a little while. I need about 50mg a day. Can anyone recommend a private doctor in Sanora, CA or Modesto, CA?
RayP, no problem! The Concierge doctor is Dr. Eric G. Tepper at 916-455-1155. When you call, a nice gal named Danielle will answer, screen you when you ask if he takes new patients, will explain rather extensively how the Concierge system works, and will possibly arrange a "meet and greet" (free) consultation with you and the doctor to see if you fit the concierge concept...so I would check out the Wikipedia article before meeting with him.
I would rather give you the other doctor's name after I see him on the 20th, if you don't mind...I have a feeling I may be seeing him instead of Dr. Tepper and if you want to give me a summary of your medical problems I would be happy to see if he'll take you (if he takes me, lol).
Anyway, good luck!
Al...Thank you for the information and help. If you can provide me the name of the physician (Concierge) you were referring to it would be greatly appreciated. If you have names of any others please furnish them as well so that I can research/contact. Thanks again.
Yes it is. In the meantime I've found several apparently not afraid to prescribe opioids to patients with legitimate needs. I've seen one who is a Concierge doctor (do a search) and will charge between $67 and $150 more per month over normal office visits depending upon your age. Your health insurance plan won't cover it...let me know if you're interested and I'll pass his name on to you.
Yes it is :( have you ever tried propublica.org? It's info from 2014 but super helpful!! I found it by google searching dr's in CA that prescribed... It's a process but, try that site!!!
Is the Dr you referenced first name Reed? I'm still looking for a caring and supportive family physician.
Oneinky, thanks for the referral. Unfortunately I have a PPO and he only accepts HMOs...any luck on your end?
Sorry, I was in a rush and didn't answer your question. It waz Dr. Kaumakaokalani Shimatsu at UC Davis. She referred me to two pain management doctors, a Dr. Parr and Dr. Parkinson, both who said they don't prescribe opioids. In the meantime I flew back to my doctor in Hawaii, where I am now, to get a 30-day refill and will call your suggested doctor in a few minutes...thanks again!
Thank you, I'll look him up and try to let you know if I'm successful! In answer to your question, so far ALL of them.
Who did y'all see? I could suggest Dr. vuong he helped my husband but don't ask for an early fill ever or you will get the boot so now I'm trying to find my husband a new dr. The one that flat out said no to you at age 72! That's absurd? Which dr was this?
Have you found anyone? I'm in the same boat, having just arrived! The physician's office that I made an appointment with *3weeks ago* said no. I am 72 years old and am in fine shape taking only 90mg a day, but the doctor is gun shy.
