NJShore, Karen, Hope you two got some relief from pain and got some rest. The day after a bad night, is worse than a hangover LOL. The hard part is that you still have a family and a life that needs your attention, the pain fatigues you and then when you're fatigued, the pain is worse. Pleasant circle Right?

pccarl, Celebrex sucks!! Seriously, read some of the side effects, and it didn't do a thing for pain. I believe it's one of the designer drugs that wasn't even developed for pain, that now they are pushing off as a pain reliever, because they couldn't sell it for it's original use. It amazes me that they develop a "designer drug" for a particular use, it doesn't work, or it doesn't sell and then they are allowed by the FDA to remarket for a different use.

Anyone know anything about blood clots? First of June I started with pain in my calf that I thought was a pulled muscle which got bad enough that I couldn't walk. Turned out I had developed "acute occlusive DVT right common femoral vein through to the right popliteal vein. Thrombosis extends to involve the deep veins of the calf" is what the ultrasound says. In other words, all clotted up from the bottom of my calf to over mid way up my thigh, heck of a clot!! They gave me a series of "self" shots and Warfarin to thin my blood. I started at a 1.1 and the goal was to reach 2.5 to 3.0. For some reason my body reacted slowly to the medications, so I had to do a second series of shots. Anyway by July I was in the goal zone. It was explained to me that the medication doesn't dissolve the blood clot, it thins the blood and the body then dissolves the blood clot. I received all the warnings about how dangerous blood clots are and how they can move to your lungs, heart, or brain with can result in death. Anyway, as I am in the "goal zone", I thought everything was doing OK. I have been religious with going to the doctor office every week, to get my INR. Week or so ago I started having a "funny" feeling in my thigh and now I have a series of penny sized bruises in a line on my thigh, with no injury to my thigh. Couple days ago I started having the "funny" feeling in my upper calf along with my thigh, the feeling that I had just prior to having the pain that caused me to seek treatment in June. Yesterday I made an appointment, first opening is Monday.
Anyone have any idea what could be going on with my leg and this blood clot? How long does it take for the body to dissolve it? I was told sometimes up to six months, but as it's been four months, I thought it would be getting better. You know I'm going to "stress" myself until I see a doctor on Monday LOL.

Weather says we are getting our first snow tonight. Oh my goodness, I'm not ready for that. It did say we will warm up again over the weekend, but this is way too early for our first snow, that's due the first of October. Weather can trigger pain for me, which explains why I feel crummy this morning. I had to cancel plans with my disabled friend for today, once again I disappoint someone.
It's totally unfair that along with my other problems, I have to deal with this blood clot. I try to follow doctors orders, food, exercise, medications, etc.!! They said I did nothing to cause this blood clot, it just happens to people. OK, but why did it have to happen to me? That sounds very childish, doesn't it? The leafy green vegetables contain vitamin K and other vitamins that can cause your blood to be thicker, I was always told that all the leafy greens were the "good" part of my diet!! OK, I'm done sounding like a 3 year old LOL

Anyone got a cure? LOL A little more detail, when I finally do get to sleep, which is an ordeal in itself, I've been waking up every hour or so with pain in my arms and hands. Move the pillow around, wiggle my arms and hands, the pain stops long enough that I can go back to sleep, then hour or so, same problem. I thought that perhaps it's something to do with cervical disc problem that I have, putting pressure on nerves? Any ideas on how to stop it?

Hi Co Susie,
I am having the same problem, no sleep, either. I will go to bed, dead tired, at 10 p.m., but wake up, within the half hour and can't get back to sleep. So, exhausted, I went online to Swanson Health Products, (Googled) and bought some Melatonin. I take two at night, upon bedtime, which helps. Although sometimes I am awake again at 2:30 a.m., so I get up take a norco, another Melatonin and then can sleep for at least several more hours. The Melatonin is all natural. I also bought some restless leg stuff from them, for that was a real pain, too, it works quite well, if I take it soon enough to go to bed. I just don't want to get more medicine, on top of what I am taking now, because I think my stomach is going. So, I hope this will work for you, my friend...

Always,
Marianne

Marianne
Known several people with Restless Leg Syndrome, and they were just miserable with it. Only good thing any of them had, was that one, who was moving her legs constantly to stop the sensation, was dropping some pounds. Heck of a way to drop a few pounds. I have heard good things about some of the herbal remedies, not just for RLS, for all sorts of things, so let me know how the Melatonin works. What is it made of? Does it say?
Swamp cooler fixed? Did you get the flooding rains where you are? It was snowing when my husband got home, unreal!!
