this is happening to us all, being stereotyped because of addicts who are overdosing, I have had 5 surgeries for crohn's disease as well as degenerative disc disease was on morphine and oxycodone, now our Dr. was forced out and put 600 patients with no meds or Dr. for help, he was my Dr. for 8 years, I live in Michigan good luck trying to find any Dr. who will write you a pain prescription and I refuse to go on any methadone or suboxen, I am not an addict..............

From SH to p 450,

I need Dr in Richmond or Newport news. I had 1 med error. Oral med have no side effects. When I had pump with Morphine/Fentanyl I became paranoid psychotic but didn't know it . Friends knew I was imaging things. I took methadone prescribed by my previous Dr of 5 years. Released. Got new pump Dr. Changed med to Dilaudid. Right away I realized I had gotten mentally crazy on previous meds. Did not tell drs. That dr. Left practice. This area had no other drs to do pumps. I started swelling and surgeon said could be due to pump . I had to have it out or it was to run out of med. So that is my story somewhat shortened. I am now in surgeons office asking for a SI joint injection and help with finding a pm Dr. They said yes to inj. But could give list of drs for pm Said have several lists. No help here So, yesterday I went to city methadone clinic and was accepted. But takes 6 weeks to get to the methadone. I have to drink like opiate addicts everyday. I am going to do it. I am tired of hurting and feeling flu like too. A crappy solution. Doing what I have too in Virginia. God bless all those in pain....

Chris I posted a doc for you no personal knowledge but he GOT bad reviews FOR WRITING medication. He is a physiatrist but was listed also as PT so patients just wanting a PT would be shocked to get this type medication. They are clearing my post to you. His name is Dr. Pedro T. Oliveros. He has 3 offices looks like one in N.O. too so I might check him out myself one in Maitland (near Orlando) and another in Florida I want to know how you make out ok?

Run a VITALS search you will get his number that way.

Chris I must drive 300 miles today to see a potential physician forget Florida and seek nearby states and go. Further all your physician has to do is do the P450 testing it costs well over $3,000 you are still not going to get special treatment if positive but it at least allows your physician to plan your care around it. I won't be back until later tonight try Georgia searches or Alabama. Tennant is OUT due to the new California regulations I went for 5 years he would not have discharged me other then the new C.U.R.E.2

The 120 mg Morphine/Morphine Equivalent Daily Guidelines is from the FDA, The insurance companies often won't pay for a rx if it isn't consistent with FDA Guidelines.

Bambi, when you see a new Dr, don't tell them what meds and doses you want. Most pain drs limit immediate release meds to 2-4 times a day as a breakthrough Med. You also need to get a copy of your medical records from your last Dr that treated your pain in your previous state. Most pain drs start new patients out on a particular Med that isn't strong and then they go from there depending on how the patient responds. What a previous Dr prescribed you doesn't matter now. They need your medical records for diagnostic proof that you have a medical condition that requires pain meds. They also need to read the drug panels and notes to be sure you didn't take any meds, prescription or illegal substances that you should not have.

Chris, you have been told by myself and others here that you aren't going to be able to get the high dose of meds like you did before. You need to be sure you tell a Dr when you see them the first time that you aren't asking for that high a dose and you are willing to work with the Dr to find what works. Not doing this means you won't have pain meds.

P450-I have been posting but no help to find dr. central FL-had great PM til suddenly he left after 12 yrs. Positive am fast metabolizer but not tested since primary has no idea what am talking about:( Was oxycontin til new laws took away then to Opana but no dr. I been to will write for it. Have bone disease plus long list causing intractable pain which was fine while I had pain relief. Now almost out of all meds (saved ones too) & no dr. or idea how to find one to help me. I am certain my body will die if I not have relief from injuries. Where can I look or suggestions? Am 62 wheelchair and used to be fairly intelligent until all this pain returned.
You seem knowledgeable (fortunate as h..ll to be Dr.Tenant patient too!).
Thanks,
Chris

SH I'd try Balint I posted a lot of information on that one. I believe also they take insurance as well. Anyone with IP on our level is permanently disabled; my medical records from the famous guy out in California literally state "she can die at any time especially if medication is interrupted" and it is 5 months now I won as stated but even the Deputy Commissioner on informal phone conference said to the AGG who represents MCVH who no longer is MCVH they are privately owned (I am one of the 21 who was in old system on work injury so the private owner hates us they inherited us) but if I had not put aside medication I'd be dead and really had started to cut back some in hopes I'd do a pump referral. With all the regulatory changes pumps should cause less issues for those of us who metabolize too quickly but one of my 400 disorders is systemic end stage RSD so for me the pump is a dangerous undertaking. I go to Houston tomorrow to interview a physician I am really thinking of the neurologist over in Louisiana that has been posted about he sounds fair to folks in pain. The Balint Clinic has two physicians and I just posted all their information for another person in trouble around Richmond. Listen if you are like me I literally took two DON jobs which lasted less than 4 weeks and I've been disabled due to this injury (over 16 years) to get travel funds to California due to WC not paying mileage which is also against the rules. Now for the first time I have to fight my SSD but believe God will get me through just one more time again. {edited for privacy}. Anyhow I want to know you are ok and also some more about why you did not do well on the pump. Did you use morphine or Dilaudid you know they now put Fentanyl in them too BUT due to the small molecule change of overdose is extremely high. Not a danger I want even though I have been on patches over 15 years now.

Rosa then you need a physician who can write for you. Check the Medical Board perhaps his ability to write class 2's is removed.

I've tried to post to you 3 times and it's not going through clearly there is something wrong, and Elizabeth if you are referring to me the culprit for legitimate pain patients is the FDA and President Obama--insurers don't have the ability to enact what is going on. Now for my friend in need. I suggest since Virginia is a Commonwealth and they have flagged you to go to one of the 40 clinics that is part of the company she is a part of. Many of us hardcore cases are forced to travel to get good care. Virginia is showing prejudicial issues about intractable pain. They have 40 clinics and now found out that includes West Virginia, D.C., the doctor I speak of is in Richmond, Virginia, and Maryland. Again if you are flagged in Virginia's system (it seems you will get some medication then on return they deny you help) I would be sincere, honest, and go to a contiguous state. National Spine and Pain Centers is the corporate name and since the physician I refer to is my first PM and I won't put her name up in public I hope you can make use of this. I also had a post earlier when someone in Virginia mentioned the Hope Clinic which is around Fisherville there is a clinic in Weyers Cover where they write openly called Balint Pain Clinic. I hope this helps buddy. (For SH)

Dear SH,

I posted on the other Virginia posts the name of the corporation she now works for they have 40 clinics in D.C. Maryland, and Virginia. It sounds like you are flagged in the Commonwealth you know I had to go to California for 5 years and I went to court to uphold Tennant for you know the comp insurer did not want him; so from Houston to Los Angeles. I would still be going if regulations for out of state patients did not change disallowing what I need as an ultra rapid opioid metabolizer; it would have literally killed me and further he has documented that I can die at any time without medications or an interruption in medications. I would like to somehow give you the physicians name but since she was my very first WC pain specialist (started me on Oxycontin in 98 and I could walk again somewhat) so know she is fair. But my suggestion since you are having this trouble is to look at the two clinics in the Western part of the state that I've looked up, and consider using the D.C. part of this corporate pain clinic system where this physician I had works. She is in Richmond, but if you are coming back time and time again I'd suggest strongly going to a contiguous state. Also I need a physician fast in East Texas, anywhere in Texas, or Louisiana. I am thinking of calling the physician listed on the Louisiana talk forum because he sounds compassionate and has no past or present issues with the Board of Medicine. As I was saying I wondered if you were someone I'd referred before in one of my pain groups I became so ill when I progressed to Central Pain Syndrome Dr. T. made me quit doing referrals and to be honest my referral list has dwindled due to political climate. Dr. Mike in Chicago (RSD specialist) retired one of the best in the country, I am not sure if Dr. Portnoy in Maryland (Hopkins) has retired, and many have run into issues and pulled out. My nickname on the referrals was {edited for privacy} SH so just letting you know get back to me. <3

Elizabeth, I just went and fought my comp insurer and won again they are the reason comp case have the highest suicide rates in the US. But they are not the balls causing the 120 mg. Morphine equivalent that is Obama orchestrated. As a professional nurse and published researcher opioids are the most equitable way to manage real intractable pain avoid costs, and reduce dysfunction but insurers are not the enemy its the government and if you are busting my rump you are wrong I've referred over 10,000 suicidal level pain clients since my injury in 1998.

SH, We used to do pain chats nightly on there and ran over 5 pain groups which were world wide; I've even referred people from countries that do not allow opioids medically so the referrals would go to different countries. Right now I must for I am short on what I conserved and down to the end of the limit so to speak but before people blow off they should read what is written. I also wrote on two of the blogs today about the pain company this one physician works for there are 40 clinics in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.

I am known as AnGelinPain but on the chats we used to have its {edited for privacy} if that helps you at all. I'd say if you are red flagged in the Commonwealth it might be better to go to one of the clinics in D.C. or Maryland. Trust me the past 5 years I was going all the way to California (and had to when I had the D. Commissioner approve this doc as treating) from Houston, Texas and I did it within 24 hours usually and yes 5 years.

SH if that helps or gives you the way to get me go ahead and check the other posts for Virginia I give the company name and if you can get to me I'll give you her name. Issue is if you are dirty in Virginia you might want to go out of state and D.C. or Maryland would work.

To p450
Yes, I am looking for a Dr in Richmond Virginia or closer to Norfolk and Newport News. I am 1+ hrs from med college in Richmond. Yes, I had pump and removed last December. I then went to Dr that spent 5 mins on first visit, didn't look at records, refilled what surgeon gave( fentanyl and Roxy's). And said does not write for that usually. Three visits and broken ankle too I found another Dr in Va Beach that was suggested to me.I am not all about just meds, have esi's , pt, etc. Not many drs to choose from in Tidewater that use meds but tramadol strongest. That's ineffective. Then saw beach Dr 3 times, released because office woman said made excessive calls . He said apparently couldn't be pleased. Was on ms contin + Roxy. PCP wrote for once. So, 5 drs have said I can't help you after records review. No meds suddenly after 15 yrs!. Someone" called this decision ".
Been in pain of 8 walking, lumbar has resulted in a hunch back. Withdrawal of course too. ER 5 xs. Help, my life is in hold. Thanks and God bless.

Whoever needs the Richmond VA referral as stated I am a RN and won't since (she) was my first physician and during my actual last court issue took and won again on the 19th OTR at VWCC yep again I will be careful as I asked for her is it SH or JAY whichever we need to do an email.

Jay, I was originally injured in Virginia and I have someone there who might help you. In that she was my first PM and am WC as you have read I am very careful. The i****s I just beat in court to cut down my $25,000 a month bill chased off my famous Calif physician. Are you telling me you had the pump removed or what? When I lost my Calif doctor I opted for her they (employer/insurer) literally tried to ambush me sent me to this addiction dork who says he does pain; no the gig out there now (and it once was a legislative state for IPr's like us no longer) is to go the opposite route. Do you want to use the pump again or do you want to go on other end? Thanks.

Rosa if you have been on real opioids this likely will not help. As you can see I am in my own quandry. What were you on before?

No it's the 120 mg. rule. I am a P450 metabolizer I have a genetic defect that shows I metabolize opioids ultra rapid which is a legitimate reason for those with rare disorders and will not get detailed for we all have pain for legitimate reasons and as a professional nurse who has before this crunch referred over 10,000 pain patients around the world to good doctors it is incredible. It started with Obama and won't end when we get him out. In or around the 90's scientific literature showed that opioids were the best and only way to treat intractable pain. Now you have the FDA due to abuse of our medications by dope fiends setting the 120 mg. morphine equivalent rule. If I had not set aside 10% as my famous former specialist taught me I'd be dead now. I had to take WC back to court and beat the A.Attorney General for the state I was injured in again for my medications were over $25,000 a month. That is not my fault I did not ask for this injury. I am still looking for physicians and because of my defect I am on brand patches, and liquid oxy pills do not work for us we process them in 10 minutes flat and no benefit in east Texas, or western Louisiana.
