Melly: About Columbia Pain and Spine Institute. Do you need a doctor's referral for an appointment? Do they give you the type of medication you need? I need a refill of the vicodin I've been taking for 10 years. Moved here and new doc won't give me any pain meds. Told me to take Naproxen (yeah right) He referred me to a pain clinic. I haven't gotten an appointment yet. All they seem to be interested in is checking to see what procedures my ins will cover before they'll see me. And then I don't know if they prescribe meds !! There has to be a better way !!

Paul I'm in collierville tn right by you. I to have been needing a doc in my area. Memphis area and I'm yet to find one. Sorry to hear about your back 33 is too young. I'm 36 and I'm in the same boat. Car wreck and my profession have really hindered me.

i was in a accident 4 years ago in Calif. Have been on Hydrocordone pain meds since. Surgery was not a option...surgeon said too late after all the tests and MRIs done. [took over 1 year to decide I was disabled] Iam 33 years old and will always have the back pain. I moved to MS and having trouble getting my pain meds. Need to find doctor near Corinth MS or TN who will prescribe the pain meds. I am truly in pain and nothing has helped for 4 years except the Hydro pain pills. The various surgeons, pain management, etc, injections have never helped.

I'M LOOKING FOR A GOOD PAIN CLINIC N DR.ON THE EAST COAST THAT WILL PERSCRIBE OXY 15 N 30. WAS SEEING ONE IN GEORGIA N THEY CLOSED THEM DOWN. ANY GOOD POSSIBILITIES WOULD BE A HELP.

This has got to be the saddest blog I have ever seen. I look out and have read all 700 plus replies of folks only trying to manage pain they must live with daily. I have for so long feared that I would be begging for help in finding a doctor close to me to help manage my partners Trigeminal neuralgia pain. My friends that day has come.

Her story is so unfair. She was dx with Trigeminal neuralgia 6 + years ago following a car accident when she was hit from behind at 40 miles and hour and her cervical spine basically crumbled around some metal she already had in her neck from a previous surgery in 2001. As a result either the Trigeminal nerve itself or something lying nearby in close proximity was damaged. As a result the Trigeminal nerve prongs 1 & 2 have been hypersensitive ever since. To use an analogy they call this the suicide disease because of the pain it creates. My partner who is now 46 has followed her pharmacological regimine to the letter of the law since this all began. She has been switched from Dr to Dr in an attempt to manage her pain to the least amount of narcotics as possible. Most recently beside multiple non narcotic drugs she has been on Dr. P P of UCPC has gotten her to the lowest level of 20mg oxycodone 1 tab 3 x per day as needed and a phentanyl patch 75 change every 72 hours. Now, as a nurse and in collaboration w dr. PP we have tried to support my partner in trying to get My partner 's 20 mg even lower, but even though we have succeeded in her not needing it perhaps 3 xs per day or everyday there are still weeks were she needs it 3 xs a day for break through.

Last Thursday my partner went to one of her regularly scheduled visits. She had a urine test at the visit before. She was told that because she did not show oxycodone in her urine that dr. Pp could no longer provide her narcotics. I was not at the visit and am desperately trying to reach Dr. PP but because this drug is ordered as needed and Dr PP has always wanted me to encourage less ( which I do) and then to turn around and do this.....well isn't he in essence implying that even if you are not in pain take the drug anyway!??! Is that even right. So, does anyone know of anyone know of any good pain management doctors in the Cincinnati Ohio area? Any who know anything about Trigeminal neuralgia would be a plus. I am so afraid for my partner not having her pain managed after we have been following the rules all this time and still were and got dumped in this fashion. Help.

Pain pills are only taking the pain away for a little while. After awhile whatever amount of meds you are prescribed the dosage will have to be highered because your body will become immune to the dosage and it won't take away the pain anymore.
Also, by taking pain meds for the pain you are not resolving the problem, only covering it up. You need to have surgery on herniated disks.
This is an addiction waiting to happen!

Although you didn't say weather or not your current doctor was prescribing you the meds I presume he/she was so, if your doctor just retired why aren't you getting a referral from him/her? You shouldn't have a problem if your already prescribed them.

I just moved to Troy, Michigan from Canada and I'm looking for a good doctor that can help with my condition and prescribe the approiate pain meds. I'm new here so not to sure where to look. Would rather not go to a pain clinic as I have no insurance, thanks.

Does anyone know of a doctor in and around the Baton Rouge Louisiana area that will prescibe pain meds that takes Medicade I'm seeing a doctor now in Maryland but I really need to move back to Louisiana very sad that your pain keeps you from moving . I have a sister that is terminal ill and sad to say Dying ...and meds are keeping me from going to take care of her in her final days .. Please help

I am looking for a doctor willing to prescribe norco or similar pain meds for my herniated discs in my back. I live outside of chicago in the naperville area. Does anybody know of a doctor out here who can help me? My doctor just retired.

To Erin I can explain better 2 u by email but u have 2 give this site permission 2 email me.i would b glad 2 talk 2 u about this.greenville is kinda funny.if u have medicaid u usually have 2 have a dr. 2 refer u 2 pain clinic.if u have money they r drs. here that will prescribe.or u can go to e clinic dot com.but u have to go to north georgia or mayb NC and they wil prescribe u pain meds then all they do is email u or call u once a month for ur meds,i cannot afford eclinic.i wish i could
