How are we supposed to talk further if we can't share any email information here? I'm not going to call "my" Dr out on a forum, ya know? But I want to help....

I know this may sound silly. But have you thought about contacting other vets that are in the same situation you're in ? Together all of you could write letters & emails to State and National Congressmen and Senators, as well as the President. You can also contact tv and newspapers. You're situation is being repeated all over the country. It will take time for this to change, but it has to start some where. The more of you there are the louder your voices are.

My name is Christian,I got out of the corps in 2003. I'm an east coast Marine but i live in Los Ageles now. My original MOS was 0311 then after ITB I went black I have an Honorable Discharge with a bronze star. January 19,2012 I was hit but a car they sent me to UCLA Ronald Regan because the Westwood VA is not a trauma hospital. I died three times the third time they revived me I was in a coma for 48 days,my L-1 and L-2 are shattered,titanium rod right leg,sever (TBI) traumatic brain ingery,lacerated spleen and liver,missing 20% of my intestines and part of my colon. This is a result of the accident and 9 abdominal surgeries I've had. My last surgery was March 12, 2013 I was on Fentinel 75 mcg,klonopin,50 mg of oxycodone every 4 houres around the clock. I got myself down to the patch,klonopin and 30 mg of oxycodone three times a day I needed that for break through pain. My primary care at the VA told me not to transfer my UCLA records to the VA because everyone from Irac and Afganestan all came back at the same time quot we went to s*** you will get nothing done here it's like this acrostic the nation. This civilian Dr. completely took me off the oxy I'm always in pain if you know of any former Marine pain management Dr or any firering salutation let me know.

David I am in NJ too! Still no luck - I can find a doctor for maybe a few months here and there but that's about it.

Can anyone help me find a doctor in the Marlton, Mt. Laurel, NJ area? Was seeing a pain management doc. but he was horrible and turned out to be a quack. I won't bore anyone with all that is wrong with me. I will watch the latest posts and maybe I will find someone with whom I can talk to or email privately.

I am in Marlton. Was seeing a pain Management doc. right here in town. It became a nightmare. He was a quack so I won't recommend. I am in horrible pain from sciatica, spinal stenosis, bulding discs, and arthritis. Did you find a good doctor in the area?

Im from maine and the doctors here are very strict on pain meds no matter what they are, in fact im having a hard time finding a doctor who treats pain. I have already went to pain clinics and pain management. This is very fustrating and alot of bl sh. I have t go through. In maine the doctors here dont believe on a patient bwing on meds for long, so i go without and deal with my pain, mostly im in bed hurts to walk and etc. Maine really suxs for treating chronic pain.

Try to locate a teaching hospital. They probably won't give you anything stronger than ultram, but they have other methods like biofeedback and guided imagery that might work and they do take insurance.

The reason the dr won't give the short acting as main pain meds is due to addiction/abuse. Even if you've always gone by the rules.

I am aware of the 4,000mgs limit. I was never prescribed 4,000, but 3,500. My old pm doctor maxed me at 7 lortabs per day, which I adhered to. My new doctor, switched me to Norco because of the lower amount of tylenol. It doesn't work as well and I'm finding myself taking an extra strength tylenol with it. By doing so, now, I'm above the 4,000 mgs per day. My new doctor has be maxed at 5 norco with a long acting pain med to go with it. I cannot take anything stronger than hydrocodone because the side effects for me are horrifying. I can't function, can't think clear, can't drive, can't do anything but stay in bed because I'm afraid of hurting myself. The stronger meds make me higher than a kite, they make my thought process screwy and for my own safety and my child's safety staying in bed is my only option if I take those. So, I won't take them. My new doctor doesn't believe in using short acting medications as a primary source of pain control. But thankfully, he will prescribe them for breakthrough. At my most recent appt the prescribed Ultram Er 300mgs as the long acting. Even though I told him that I tried Ultram before, and it was like taking a placebo. But, I guess it's better than nothing and it's much better than being forced to take the stronger meds. So I take it to get it filled at the pharmacy, my insurance doesn't cover it. It's 250.00 for the generic. I don't have an extra 250.00 laying around per month to use. I called him to let him know this, he said to give something up. Well, there's nothing I can give up. As it is, I don't get to eat every day. I live off of 500.00 per month. I don't have cable, nor a cell phone and sit in the dark most of the day and night to keep my electricity bill down. So, I get to continue to suffer. I know that I'm not the only one here that's suffering. I'm just so frustrated. I don't have to be in this pain, there's a surgery that will fix it. But I'm too young. I will have waited 18 yrs to have the surgery by the time that I'm old enough for the insurance to cover it. 18 years of suffering for nothing. Sad thing is, my little girl is suffering along with me. She was only 2 when I was injured. She doesn't remember what it's like to have her normal mommy. It's not fair to her either.

I moved from New Mexico to texas to see a specialist and get two hip replacements I have severe arthritis and now my back is shot as well I was getting ocycodone 40mg twice a day and 10/325 hydrocodones 4 times a day they said texa would b better for me well I haven't found I e doctor to prescribe what I need for pain as now pretty much chair and bed ridden I have such chronic pain its crazy!! I will have my surgery within 6 months I'm sure but can't function and I'm having bad thoughts as well very depressed now as I can't so anything!! A well as gaining weight I'm making myself sick!! Do you know anywhere in Lubbock Texas who prescribes? I tried to get one doctor to get me into pain management but they just don't care!!! I have been suffering now with no pain Meds for over 2 months!!

Hi joe, this is a pretty old post i think but im just now seeing it and thought id take a shot at asking you ..did you find a dr.? Im not far from medford and am in a difficult situation as far as my meds go..(i have, among other ailments, progressive multiple sclerosis) so i was ust seeing if you could share with me a good dr. I might go see? Hope its ok to ask, and im sorry to trouble you!
