I have been taking 120 mg of methadone for approximately 5 years. My husbands job transferred us from Florida to Louisiana where I found a pretty good pain doc. He is now running scared and wants to take me off of methadone. Methadone has given me a good quality of life; I am able to work and be a productive member of society. My doctor is unwilling or unable to assist me in finding a new doctor who will continue my meds. Oh yeah, I have been the route of blocks and injections and gotten little if any relief. I'm tired of being branded a drug seeker-I have years of medical records that back up my claims and verify the dosages that I've been on-what drug seekers have this kind of back up? I am looking for a Louisiana doctor, but am willing to travel (within reason of course). Please help!!
Im a mother of two recently divorced and got into a accident in april of last year my l 4 and l 5 are shattered and have nerve damage and spinal stenosis of the spine and my s 1 and s2 are also shattered with nerve damage as well i was in pain management but stopped going couldn't afford it and really was thinking i can do it without pain meds.I HAVE a demanding job that requires lifting and bending it is killing my back and neck i live in prairieville louisiana and cant lose my job please help with a pain management doctor
Monroe has a clinic Ruffin drive center for behavioral health. You probably already know that by now
Hi, I'm bob. I've been placed on methadone by stupid Drs at the VA. Good thing I'm a MARINE. Enough S***. Finally off of METHADONE after ruining 2 marriages because of no libido. Now after a motorcycle wreck I'm seeking pain relief. I have a bad Dr. at neuroscience pain and I'm being treated as if I have a toothache. The federal law sucks. Enough. All I can legally tell you is there's relief on the internet in CANADA.
I'm looking for a dr that writes methadone I live n Metairie. can u please help me
Anodyne clinic on Sierra Ct. in Metairie. I don't have the Phone number.
Are you still with Dr Troy? Dont have insurance. How much is the 1st visit and each month after?
Hi Sara. My name is Bob. I'm 59 almost 60 yrs old. I live in a small country town Madisonville La. pretty much out in the country. We have roosters still crowing at 3:30 am he he. However it is changing with it being more and more crowded with city people building houses. Anyhow as far as methadone goes, its a great pain killer. Being on it on and off 27 years. It works. However the fda classifies it as opiate treatment meds. They have not lived methadone, I have. But theres ALWAYS a catch. It is now an industry. MONEY big time. Also methadone is very addictive, being at the top of my list. Short time use is fine. However most people cannot for lack of self control use it just for that. It gives energy and kills pain and ALOT MORE. Some good some bad.. I've told you the truth in more detail than usual. I'm really hurt bad. As a long battle with pain clinic doctors etc. I'm pissed really. I cannot obtain enough meds to help. 10 mgs of oxycodone to me is like naproxen really. I understand totally where the govt does NOT. They only do what is in their best interest. Also they will pretend to be a real person on the comp. and try to hurt you. Watch carefully what you say. It's being monitored. I will close with a little of my injuries. Motorcycle crash april 23. 2 months of life support, 28 bones broke, neck, brain damage, broken femur, hip, 2 torn rotator cuffs, shoulder broke, full knee replacemet, all ribs broke, collapsed lung, still going on. Maybe never again the same. Being a marine I'm no crybaby. Anyhow too many people playing with hydrocodone we all suffer for it. MAKES ME MAD. HOPE I HELPED YOU. PLEASE RE READ THIS. IT WAS HARD TO DO.
My doctor has had me on 80 mg of methadone for the last 10 years and doesn't seem worried about taking me off until a suitable replacement is found. He only has around 100 patients is really picky about whom he treats. You'll never see anyone passed out in his waiting room or if you do it'll be the last time you see them. The point being that he doesn't seem to worried about what the DEA likes and doesn't like for PM doctors to prescribe. I'm very lucky to have a PM doctor like him. He does everything by the book and you can be sure that you'll never be in and out in 5 minutes. Thank God for responsible doctors who don't let the DEA dictate what to prescribe....
i, Medicare Part D will not pay for Methadone at a Methadone Clinic. You must have a prescriptioon for Medicare Part D to pay for it. Methadone Clinics don't give prescriptions.
i, Methadone Clinics are for drug addicted. If you aren't a drug addict, a Methadone Clinic isn't going to take you. If you manage to lie and have them take you, if the time comes and you are no longer able to go to the clinic, a pain doctor isn't going to treat your pain because you have a history of drug addiction. All of your doctors will know that you are being treated for drug addiction. Going to a Methadone Clinic is not like going to pain management. Put Methadone Clinics, Shreveport, La. in google.
Pain management doctors are getting away from prescribing Methadone for chronic pain.
I have a pain management Dr. in Shreveport, La and after going to one Dr. for 5 years they prescribed me Methadone no problem for Degenerative Disc disease and Fibromyalgia, I finally had to go on Disability and once I went to Medicare I had to find a P.M. Dr. that would take Medicare but this New P.M. Facillity will not give me Methadone. They say it's because it's not good for the heart. They have put me on things like Oxycodone and the price of that drug I can't afford. I have suffered through paying that but then it stopped working very well. Now they are trying me on a Fentanyl patch and they are just as expensive as the other only these are so strong they are making me sick. What I would like to know, is there a Methadone Clinic in Shreveport La and would they take Medicare and Aetna as my secondary? Oh and there is nothing wrong with my Heart.
OMG I understand on 4-23-16 I was In a nearly fatal motorcycle crash. I was methadone since 2-22-02. Dong fine working etc. since then I've been home only to find out my body is not the same without methadone. Nor does anyone care to help me. I feel that the system is corrupt and the pain mgmt. drs have a limited knowledge as to help you. America as we all with issues seem doomed to suffer. Is the anyone out there having similar issues?
Patty, you are correct, Addiction Specialist that also specialize in Pain Management can and sometimes do treat patients that have a history of addiction and chronic pain. But, it can be difficult to find these drs and the person may or may not run into problems when it comes to their insurance. Most patients with an addiction history and chronic pain don't want to go to an Addiction Specialist. That is why I didn't elaborate on it. If a chronic pain patient is dismissed from Pain Management due to addiction issues or possible addiction issues, it is almost impossible, if not impossible, to find another dr that is a Pain Management Dr only or another other type of dr, except for a combination Addiction Specialist and Pain Management to treat mange their pain.
Methadone Can Be Abused.
BL..That isn't true..If a person has been treated for addiction, and has chronic pain, while it is harder to find a doctor to treat that patients pain, there is acually a doctor who is both an addiction specialist and pain management specialist and he treats addicts that have chronic pain. He is very cautious and careful and he will use only methadone because addicts won't abuse it. It is possible for an addict to be treated with opiates with chronic pain. Addicts are human too, we feel pain and most of us have a very low tolerance for pain..Have you ever read "The doctors letter". Google it. It is written by a doctor for doctors on chronic pain in opiate addicted patients.. On your other comment..Unfortunatly some doctors are so ignorant about addiction and so scared to continue treating their patients for chronic pain that they have sent their patients to methadone clinics..They have no idea that methadone maintenance doesn't treat pain at all. It's messed up but that's what's happening since hydrocodone is now a class 2 drug.
What countries are more effective in treating pain management by way of methadone and not be treated or labeled as an opiate addict.I also live in New Jersey and it sure is over half watered down. METHADONE clinic JERSEY, I have had over thirty-five years invested, yes water
I need a doctor that prescribes methedrine near Lake Charles La my doctor is retiring I take 40 mh a day for chronic neck and back pain I have had 4 surgeries and this is what helps
I take Methadone for PAIN...SEVERE chronic pain...And it works GREAT!! I'm also a Certified Addiction Specialist, and you DO NOT need to be giving people the wrong info. The reason they give you aadditional pain meds if your an addict is because your supposed to be on a level of Methadone that just makes you feel NORMAL. And if you feel normal, your supposed to need pain meds in addition to the methadone levels. Methadone is a Schedule II, fully synthetic, full opioid agonist..just like any schedule II pain med, Such as morphine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, except some aren't fully synthetic. The reason it blocks other Opioids is because it located the receptor sites and fills the site...blocking other opioids, but STILL producing its own opioid agonist activities.
Mik008. That isn't true. I have no idea why nothing works for your pain anymore, but it's not because you have been on a high dose of methadone.. Sure methadone blocks the receptors in the brain, all that means is when you take any opiate you won't get any kind of high from it. I am saying this because I have been on 165mg of methadone since February of 2001. I have had surgery and I told my doctor I was an addict on methadone so the pain medication he gave me worked great for the pain, I just didn't get that opiate high. Also when an addict gets methadone, it has very little pain killing affects..that is why addicts on methadone maintenance need other opiates for pain
That is true. I have known people who have died from opiate withdrawals, it's rare but it does happen. A doctor cutting off a chronic pain patient is basically writing a death warrant. Pain plus withdrawal is dangerous
