Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 9)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

So all you can get is 3 oxy ir's so since I take mine 4 times a day but 2at a time on 2 of 4 of them times then really they can give me the 10mg ones that I can cut and still have my er naproxen cause it is a er med. They would still be doing what they are needing to do for dea cause I am on a er med and my oxy ir 4 times a day but only be filling for 90 as if I was only taking 3 a day. Not so bad if they will do that which dr. May said he had no issues before upping it to 10 mg if I wanted before. What do you think mac?

Franki5 did you still get 6 a day on the percocet? Or did they onky give you 3 a day?

I think you'll be good Tam. I am fine. Like I said it's if you're ONLY on IR OC and claim to have chronic pain that isn't how it's supposed to be treated. My OC got dropped but they made up for it with methadone. Dr. MAy is protecting himself and he should. There are WAYYYY too many drug seekers out and about in this country so the DEA is getting involved. Too many people can't handle what they're given, come in early, take too much and die. There were 15,000 deaths last year from pain meds. More than cocaine and heroin combined!!! I'm honestly glad they're clamping down.

They have a questioner that they are doing now, to see who is at high risk and are changing to long acting meds for people on high doses of oxy ir which a lot of people are upset with but if I was on a high dose I would rather be on a long acting med if we could find one that works and I wasn't allergic to. So I am guessing that people who are high risk are getting the no on oxy period and others on a high dose are getting more of the long acting meds instead. I agree with how they are doing things now and they are actually getting the people out of their office that don't belong and could possibly keep us from our right to be pain free. The ones who have stayed are the people trying to work with them and are not just seeking, like u said mac its not an oxy clinic. They will work with you but if you require a high dose of oxy ir (example: 20 or 30 mg at one time) they will put you on a long acting med which is how it should be.

Just wondering mac did you also have to fill out the questioner they are now handing out asking about if anyone or you have been addicted or abused meds, or alcohol, or if you worry about running out of meds or count them, ect....? or is that something new that just started probably this week.

yes I did Tammy!!!! And thank you Tammy for saying the same thing I said. If they just drop you there is OBVIOUSLY a reason. I'm 22 and have 6 back conditions. They didn't just drop me. We changed things around and figured it out. That's what I'm saying. my OC was dropped by 2 but my methadone was increased. They are still keeping my pain under control well!!!!! I agree that they are following strict protocol to protect themselves and the real chronic pain patients.

CPR has totally stopped their practices because some idiot overdosed and died on oxycodone 30's. the DEA stepped in and now they won't give out anything except methadone! A friend of mine who has major back problems got cut off there. Then they said they were back up and running so she paid her $180 because the prices went up and walked out with methadone which she won't take because she's smart. So instead of her oxycodone 30's they gave her methadone! Those people are a hot mess! Save your $$. They'll be closed soon. Luckily I have a great dr and he's legit so I luckily am not in a tough spot like so many others are!i can tell you not to go there though! I can't give out his name on a forum but keep looking. There's a few good ones around!

My friend just went to a new pain dr because Colorado Pain Management is closing down (CPR) and at her new Dr, she was shown a list of all Dr's being shut down by the DEA and Dr. May was the first on the list, so you may want to find someone else. I didn't even know who he was until that list, so good luck, but I'd start looking sooner than later. He'll be shut down soon.

Dr. May isn't saving a thing! He's being shut down. All if the Dr's around town have a list of who the DEA is closing down and he's the 1st one on there! I didn't even know who he was until I saw that list, so start looking for new care. He won't be writing a thing very soon. I have a great Dr. Who's legit and I get everything that I need! You just have to have a legit problem, have up to date MRI's and ask them up front to make sure you're not wasting your time with someone like Dr. May or CPR. Those are places who see anyone, a real dr doesn't have any problems with the DEAbecause they only write for people who are really in need. When they write to seekers like CPR and May did is when they get in trouble.
