Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 78)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I am a 67 yr. old Senior, who when younger played every sport, ran 2 Marathons, 1 Mini Marathon. I was, for about 7 yrs, running @45-50 miles in a 6 day week.(have to shut down 1 day to recover) Had a Baseball Scholarship out of high school, as a Catcher. My baseball career ended when I tore my left ACL During my Sophomore yr.

Then I got into running. Runners know that there are 3 areas of their body, which eventually, later on, give them trouble,-The Ankles,-Knees,-and Hips.Have had 9 Knee Surgeries, and my hips are now giving out. I realize that Opiates are being abused. The great Warm & Fuzzy feeling when you take them. But for Seniors who can't go through medical detectors w/out it going off from all the Plates, Screws in one's body, SHOULD NOT be lumped into those who are in their 30's, and Dr. Shop, to get their Meds. If I wasn't prescribed my Meds, (Methadone, 10 mgs, 4 per day, and Percocet, 10/325 4 per day, I would NOT have a Quality Rich Life. I have degenerative Arthritis, my L-2-3

Facet Joints are worn down to nubs. I see a Pain Mgt. Dr. and a Neuro Surgeon, who just put a plate, screws, and fused my C2-3 in my neck, but I get my Pain Meds from just 1 Dr. But even he is sometimes leery about giving me more than 4 a day. What is a person who is in Chronic pain-DAILY- supposed to do?

I had seizure from xanax withdrawal fortunately I was with a nurse. At least with opiates you can get off of them with suboxone and it doesn't have to take forever. I'd much rather be on opiates for my pain any day but they make it impossible to stay legal.

Patricia um this thread is a good site if u have time u can read thur the thread and find out some doctor info but must of us go 2 CPR in wheat ridge co they are a cash only place and u have 2 have mri xrays any paperwork 4 why u are on pain management.. Also most Dr's only write scrpits for lower amounts now with all the new rules i dnt think Dr's here wil give u tha 300mg of ur MS pain med u were on or even tha 260mg.. From Wat u have read and heard Dr's write for the lowest amount possible U think most of us on here have been cut down to a lower dose and im nt sure if Dr's give scripts another pain med for break thur pain.. Tha vicodin is only a short term med that lasts roughly 3-6 hrs it my by help u cuz u were on a stronger pain med cuz ur MS is a longer acting med...but i know u are in pain but hurtin urself is nt tha answer im sure ur loved ones would be very hurt without you. We have meeting to meet each cuz we are a support system here this place gives us ppl we can talk 2 who dnt understand about being in pain daily or think of us as druggies we help each other here. May i ask why u are on pain management sum of us here have it for cancer back and other issuers..i hope this helps and just remember were ever u go u need proof of why u need pain management or they wil nt help you oh and if u are takin more then u are suppose u shld talk with tha dr cuz if u are takin more then u shld tha Dr May cut u off all together cuz they cld think u are a drug seeker thats why it's important 2 have all proof paperwork of why u need pain management

I had to reread your post .At the end you ask where can I go to get Mscontin? This isn't for drug seekers. We are about people with pain getting the help we need to be able to live life to the fullest.

Patricia, Denver isn't gonna write what dose you want either. All doctors go by the last pain regime. 120 of Mscontin is alot per day plus you took vicodin. Im in pain from brain tumor I only use 20mg extended release x day. Withdrawal from any opioids is three days. The reason your vicodin don't work is, it don't give u that high. If your running out early then your chasing a want not need. After 3 days your brain receptacles adjust to the new dose. A lot of us reduced our meds intake so we don't develop a want or needing. Your tolerance goes way down at that point even vicodin will help your pain. Medicaid is trying not to have Mscontin approved.

Hello Patricia, If you've been without Mscontin for a month there shouldn't be any withdrawal symptoms physically. Please don't take this unkindly, if you still feel withdrawal it's all in your head. I was on 120 of oxy. down to 20 MG per day. As long as you have a narcotic in your system you won't withdrawal. In your mind your telling your brain the lower pain medication want work. So you mentally go thru withdrawal. The first three days without oxy Mscontin you go thru bad withdrawal after day four it's out of our system. Coming to Denver will not get u Mscontin, doctors are restricting it. If your on medicaid your total meds for pain can't exceed 300 MG. Most of us even medicaid people have to pay out of pocket for meds. 180 per month. If the doctor weans u down its because they're trying to only give opiates to cancer or extremely ill.

Patricia... I'm in COS. All the chain pharms are open on the weekends... And Walgreen's has a couple 24 hr locations. I'm not sure where you were looking to get them filled?
I have a really great pain management team... But got in to see them through a referral after surgery. There are a few good pain management offices... And a few bad. I'm curious who your bad dr is?
A long while back, a core group of us exchanged personal email addresses and eventually, some people got to meet as a true support group.
I think there were some probkems with people meeting on other threads... And I'm not sure any personal info can be exchanged any more.
In general, please be careful trying to get pain meds filled from different drs... Make sure your drs know about each other. We have a prescription drug monitoring system in CO ... If you are filling from different drs (dr shopping), pharmacies will see that info and you will not be able to get any meds.

Thanks for your empathy. In the Carolinas. This was my 1st time here, so I NO NOTHING! Other than I went to a Emergency Care place yesterday to get 16 Vicodin! Then 4 Pharmacy's in Colorado Springs to get my 16 Vicodin filled. Most are closed on the weekends! Which is INSANE!! C.S the 2nd largest city in Colorado is a complete joke! Where else could Pharmacy's be closed for 2 DAYS a week, & stay in Business? I'm headed back to Denver, but I can't move back until I get money from my dad who died in March! Between, the A**HOLE who has cut my meds, & my personal loss, I'm in bad shape. I am attempting to understand the messages, about how some people know each other? Why you meet? Personally I am starting to consider Suicide, if I can't find any M.S.Cotton! I have felt like S*** for over a month now, & the Vicodin I took today acts completely different from the M.S. Cotton I've been on for 6 yrs! That was 300 mg, daily, which I had NO idea was such a Hugh amount until I changed cites, & doctors, & Medicaid stated it was too high. So, I went to 260 mg of M.S. Cottin which I was doing OK on. Now, he cut it to 120, & of coarse I didn't stay on that amount, & took extra everyday! Because, I had my Gallbladder taken out 1 month ago, I got the Vicodin. The doctor said he's lowering it too fast. I wont EVER enter his office again. He lowered it. I don't really care if this is too much information. It's all the exact truth. Looking for help. Where could I get it tomorrow, if I can drive back to a REAL city, Denver?

Rainbow, AMEN SISTER!!
Wendy, Went through the same deal with the pharmacy. I wrote about it in post that was erased. I suggested getting in early for your appointment so your meds with be delivered the am you need them. I had to go to the pharmacy to get my meds, waited over 45 minutes. Makes for a very long day, especially for patients that drive from far away. I had to get approval even though I had an approval right after the new rules went into effect. The approval was for six months but since the approval was given to my usual pharmacy and now we have to use just the one, it made my approval null and void. Seems to me this keeps getting more and more messy.

We are very short on Sig. for 1$million for pain patients. Please remember to verify Sig. by email. Thanks for posting the link. If I can figure out how to post the link I will post in more threads here. I definitely shared on FB. I told my son to sign and share. He has tons of FB friends.

Jo - to answer your question you are probably getting directed to this thread because you posted some messages in this discussion and so the site alerts you whenever new replies are posted here. I don't think the site is based out of Colorado, it is just this specific thread that is maintained by people from Colorado.

If you were to run a search on the site for something like 'doctors in [YOUR LOCATION]' you would be able to see if somebody has already started a discussion thread near where you live. (And you can always start your own discussion thread too if you don't find one). So if you don't want to keep getting alerts from this Colorado thread then the next time you get an email about it you can scroll to the bottom and unsubscribe from the alert. I'm on here a lot but i mostly just read the pages so I kind of know the ins and outs. Hope this helps!

I am very sorry to hear for what you're going through, Patricia. It really does seem like a game when it comes to these pain doctors or any doctor for that matter. I suppose a lot of that has to do with the fact that they are not the ones that are experiencing the pain on a daily basis such as their patients. It seems that we ,as pain patients, take one step forward and three steps back. Unfortunately, I am unable to advise on pain management doctors in Colorado due to the fact that I am not in the Colorado area but I do wonder why it automatically goes to the Colorado page every time I click on to the Meds Chat email notification. Is that because this website is based out of Colorado and mainly for people in the Colorado area or should I be going to a specific page to get to conversations that take place from folks in my particular state? I only ask because I am fairly new to this website and I could use some help myself when it comes to the same issues that you are experiencing. I want to read and learn from experiences by people located in various places but I also would like to find folks closer to home so that maybe I could be lead in the right direction myself. Can anyone answer how I would find folks located in the Carolinas which are going through similar problems? Is there some type of locator on this website where I can locate folks that share similar experiences in my own state? The problem of finding a good doctor is a pain across the board especially pain management doctors. I would appreciate any input from anyone to help me locate folks in my own state so that I can get help closer to home although I enjoy sharing experiences from anyone but I also would like to know if there's anyone that may be closer to me that I can get help from as well. Not trying to be funny but does Colorado not have the medicinal marijuana law passed where it should not be as difficult to get pain management through that method if it actually works for someone? We did not have that here in my state which is why I was wondering. I still would like to share my experience but I would also like for someone to help me with my question of finding discussions in my state as well to begin with my journey here on this website. Any help with this navigation process is greatly appreciated.
