Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 56)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Fuzzy wats goin on and cant they call CPR and get orders from them. They shldnt be treating u that way cuz you are in pain management that is ridiculous you have a right 2 be treated with respect if I were you I would ask 2 speak 2 someone in management. What hosptial are u at if I may ask.

70chevelle I know you say your Norco is working fine but it does contain Tylenol which is really bad for your liver. If you are ever looking to change I would recommend Vicoprofen, which is hydrocodone with ibuprofen. I've been on it for years and it works great and I know I am not killing my liver by taking it.

I didnt know they made that no 1 has said anything 2 me bout tryin it either. Is it as strong as norco with tha Tylenol? Do they percocet with it as well.Maybe I wil ask my dr 2 give it a try

It should be just as strong as the Percocets you take but so much easier on your liver. I try not to take any pain meds with Tylenol as I was a medical assistant and I saw too many people who went in to liver failure from Tylenol

Wel thanks for tha new info idk why my dr never said anything cuz I take ibuprofen for break thru pain I have a dr appt comin up u think I shld ask my dr 2 see if he mite possibly switch me?

So ur nt a medical assistant anymore? And does the vicprofen last longer then the vicodin or percocet or tha same bout 4-6hrs?

70chevelle I agree with Cindy. Be VERY cautious of vicodin (norco) or percocet because they both have tylenol and it will destroy your liver. If percocet works for you then just ask for oxycodone without tylenol. That's what most doctors suggest if they know what they're doing. They can give you the same dose as percocet, it just is only oxycodone, not oxycodone and tylenol like percocet. I can't tell you what to do, but remember, you only have one liver. Take care of it. Straight oxycodone works just as well as percocet and I know this from personal experience. But you don't have to worry about the tylenol. And they make it in 5mg, 10, 15, 20, and 30mg. So you have more options.

Ok thanks im gonna talk with my doctor and see if I can try that cuz im nt ready yet 4 methadone just cuz that reaction from the morphine. But I always listen 2 ur advice mac thanks I dnt no alot bout all pain meds but im starting 2 look into them more I figure if im gonna be on them then I mite as well start readin and learnin bout them.

Thanks mac, cindy, rainbow for the advice. Percocet makes me super sleepy. Thats why I take the norco. But the vicoprofin sedms like it would be better for us. Again, thank u all for sharing your insite, advice, and e periences.

Your all very kind and welcoming. I will definitely be talking to my dr next month reguarding the more safe norco with ibuprofen instead of tylonal. Ì am so glad I found this forum. I have learned a lot about a wide variety of things associated with pain. I also now understand why dr's are so leary to prescribe medicine lately. I have seen some disturbing posts from people who are abusing their medicine. Or medicine their buying off the streets. And other posts of people asking to try to score drugs on here. Someone said it best when they said this is not the drug classifieds. Anyway thanks every one for making me feel so welcomed here. I think this is a great forum and awesome thread.

Time Release is an interesting concept. I got to sit in on a presentation at the Mayo Clinic a few years ago on a "new" time release pain med they were working on. They determined that it would work fine for the Scandivavian populaiton of Minnesota but that it would likely overdose 30% of Indians (from India). It was due to the time release being based on an enzyme, the presence of which is linked to genetic markers. I must have few of those markers, as time release medicines do not release for me. My wife must have several, as she time releases "all at once". Only seek a "time release" medicine if they work as expected for you. Your mileage may vary.

I made an interesting discovery the other day. I saw a post about nicotene being useful for joint pain. I am not a smoker, but I thought I'd give it a try. I went for a plain tobacco product...not chemicals or paper...a small Danish cigar. I don't want the chemicals they treat American cigarettes with or the papers they are wrapped in. Anyway, I got almost immediate relief from knee pain which has been flaring up due to weather swings. I hate the taste and don't want to make a habit of it, but it is good for some instant relief for a couple of hours. I shared one with a friend who is a smoker and he couldn't finish it...said it was too strong. I only smoke about 1/3 of a cigarette sized cigar every other day or so when needed, so I'm not really concerned about it becoming a habit...but it does help some.

I am in pain constantly and cannot find a Dr. In Colorado that will give me a pain med. My back is so bad and have degenerative and herniated discs and am treated like a junky. I lie in bed at night and rock and cry . I want to know where people who get the meds and sell them for outrageous amounts get them and why a Dr. Won't listen or give a damn about his patients . I cannot live like this andwon't so what is our government doing but making us have to buy them illegally of of the people who don't need them that can get them . I am outraged by what is going on here. I have been to Dr. after Dr. and they want to put you on anti depressants because I am in pain .Please anyone that has a Dr. that gives a darn and listens please in Colorado let me know. I can't do this pain anymore. I feel like I am going crazy with living in so much pain. What the neck did Dr.'s no take and oath to help people? I don't get it. Because of people who abuse them or get them and sell them we are not allowed them . God help us all.

Since cannabis is legal in Colorado, does CPR not allow you to come up positive for THC? I was just thinking about that, I tried cannabis for the first time 2 weeks ago, edibles, to see if it would help with pain...now I'm scared :/
