Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 34)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Beth, thankyou so much for your support. I'm here to help people that need help because we all need help with the situation the DEA puts us in. I don't want to see no one suffer in pain because I know what pain can do to others and myself. I give thanks to the people out there trying to help each other in every way possible. Lets be positive to help each other no matter what the circumstance. Beth, thankyou for your support. You are so very kind and understanding. Also thanks to others that help me so much so far!! Hi Mac,

Yes, that was all I was trying to say! I WAS trying to help but fk it. Your cool Mac, but I sure as hell don't appreciate being told I was not trying to help. Considering the title of this thread is "Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado" I don't think I was being rude or not helping by stating they may get better help my doing wtf I said. Anyways, I'm not going to bother posting again. Take care.

Ouchie, I did not say your being rude. I get it. You just want people from Colorado on this site. I really think you should have people from all over to have much better input. It's the only way to unite to get some better information and to work together as a big group. No hard feelings what so ever OUCHIE. Wish you best of luck. Stay well my friend. God Bless. My prayers for you all. Thanks

This is kind of off the subjects recently posted. this question is to patients of Unified Health Group in Arvada. My sister has been going there for about 14 months now. as far as I can see she hasn't had any issues. I have witnessed her life chsnge for the better. she is more happy, able to get out of the house more often and for longer periods of time. About 2 months ago the dr.s had to cut her meds, I think she said they were the breakthrough meds, but she's thankful they haven't decreased her Long acting meds. To make a long story short she was slightly surprised when she was asked to take a "yearly random drug check" she's not worried and I know she has no reason to be. Has anyone else had to take this yearly drug check? I am curious if it has something to do with New 2014 laws? I am a large part of her life I help take care of her from housework, to helping her get her meds filled and the run around with the pharmacies, and certain God complex having pharmacists etc. I 've seen her struggle. I know other PM have monthly or for example 8 of 12 months diagnostics, etc. it's nothing new. This at Unified Health Group is new to her anyway. Just curious if you as a patient, friend or family member have any information? Is this a 2014 law change. Thanks any and all information is appreciated. One more thing my sis was concerned about is if insurance was going to cover, or will she get some bill in the mail?

THORSON-

All I was saying, and I NEVER pointed you out, was that if you or anyone is looking for a doctor outside of Colorado that you would get better help and answers for that dr by starting a thread for your area. I never said I, or anyone here wouldn't help out with anything else. I, too, have an extensive history dealing with the same issues as each of us; chronic pain. I was trying to be helpful for those looking for a dr outside of Colorado. Not once did I say you or anybody outside colorado shouldn't post here for help, only that we, moe than likely cannot help with finding a dr in your or any other area out side of Colorado. I apologize if you got that impression from that short post. Take care.

Hey maC686, (or anyone else that couldkindly help!),

I am looking for a doc, not CPR, and I think you may have been able to get some thru this site thru PM's. Was with my previous doc in Longmont for 5 years and he's no longer continuing pain and med mgt. Besides horrible back issues, I have 2 diseases that I've so far had 2 surgeries in which they scrape down my orbital bones for. Its pretty gnarly :( I'm in constant pain and over the next few years looking at probably 3 more surgeries (they say that's the average)...but trying to function and living in pain all day every day. Have scans, records, and surgery records. Is there anyone you know of besides Dr. May's clinic (think it's called CPR?) Willing to travel a bit, but would like to stay in or around Denver area. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Life saving appreciated! Not sure how to speak to y'all "privately"/email. Thanks so much and hope you're doing well and as pain free as possible!

Hi May33, sounds like you've got your crap together. I live in Oklahoma but, as soon as we get my settlement, were moving to Colorado. I see a rehabilitation specialist and b4 that a Neuroscientist Specialist. Been on Workmans compensation for over 4 years!! Like you, I am severely damaged. My entire lumbar and thoracic is either collapsed or bulging, DDD and Facet disease RA arthritis. They say it's too bad to do surgery, too risky. I had cervical ACDF with hardware on 3 levels and now tons of permanent damage. My neck never stops hurting...I also a very prolapse Bladder and very severe endometriosis. Heading back under the knife. Eeeeeekkkk!! I also have really bad feet called Bunions (sp?) The Specialist I seen for that said major surgery on both feet. OMG, RIGHT...anyway I will stop talking your head off ;) Here's what I did...get referrals, if your old Doc won't or you don't want him to then make yourself an appointment with a clinic, most will do, ask the Doc AFTER you're in the room alone with them, a nurse might be there as well. Now, you ask this..DO you do pain management program? If they say NO, ask them politely if they will refer you to one that does. Then as your asking asking them, ask if the need to see your records and MIR' S, always say your life is being affected. Take whatever ever meds they give you at first, then after that say they aren't taking care of your pain. That's what I did time and time again and it worked for me. I could go on talking...Lol but they don't allow emails on here. {edited for privacy}. I know doctors here in Ok that gave me Percocet and Noraco, loratab. Nothing stronger. I Also knew of doctors in Missouri. Now, let me ask you this, why don't you want to go to Doctor May? Is there something wrong there? He was gonna be my go to doctor when I move to Colorado. Anyway, I hope and pray you find a doctor and get some relief, I know when a person is in unimaginable pain 24/7 the pill only take an edge off. But ya know, if you have all your records and can get referred you'll be good to go, then you can hook me up once I get there...lmbo. :) on a side note, whats a good town to live in, in Colorado. We've been looking at Louisville, maybe, idk really, but, need a good rate on houses, bc were gonna be buying one. My husband lived there for a few years with his Dad (RIP) and loved it, we've been together for 25 yrs and from the start of our relationship we planned on one day moving there. WE are BIG Denver Broncos fan, our whole family, 3 boys, my hubby and I. It's hard to keep on going, but we have too, weather we are in horrible pain or depressed or outa our freakin' minds. Peace&Love, Beth <3

Kay33 have you ever been to dr. May? If not his office is really good but other than that I am not sure of another clinic or doctor. Hopefully someone else has some options for you at least a few to try. Hope you find one. Good luck.

Tammy, Hi :) I'm {edited for privacy}. I'd like to chat and get to know you. I live on Enid, Oklahoma right now but, hopefully I will be living in Colorado! I'm excited but worried as well because it took me years to get to where I am, where Doctor's are concerned. I won't know anyone at. We are looking at Louisville but we're still not sure. My husband lived there in his teenage yrs and we been married for 25 yrs. So Colorado is where we're settling. Is Doctor May or any other Doctor's taking new patients? That can be an issue! Right now I'm looking for a Doctor for my husband. He is also as bad as me and he has to work. How does a person find "THAT ONE" Doctor that is empathic and has a caring soul, without Doctor shopping, I mean really!! What if you go to a new doctor and they say...take over the counter ibuprofen or says they don't or can't write for narcotics...what then, I'm so lost anymore..you know what I mean.?! I could use your advice and get to make my first friend in Colorado...lol

Thanks...made an appt at Rocky Mt internal Medicine in Denver...receptionist asked what meds I was on and told her what I've been on for past 5-6 years, oxy 30 ir & 40 er, plus other non pain meds for my diseases...she said she'd run it past the doctor...so, fingers crossed. She still made me an appt. I think ??? (shrug) I tried the other place u mentioned, is it in Aurora ?, but I'll hit up Google n check. Think I ran into issue I'm running into at every place I've tried, I'm on Medicade and can't find a place that takes Medicade or self-pay that I can afford. And sadly, CPR is not an option for me :'(
Just sucks, was at same doc FOREVER, and now that he's no longer practicing, I can't findaanywhere to go. I literally wanna scoop my eyes out of my head every day. Plus all my nerve damage, body and facial, and back issues. Ulgh! It's hell, as you all know. Sorry, just realized I'm totally whining. I really do appreciate any and all help from the bottom of my heart.
Need to find a doc besides CPR in short :)
Thanks again!
Be well,
K

Hey! I am in the same boat as you are... could you please let me know where your doctor in Denver is located? I have been looking all over the city to no avail. Thank you very much.

Rainbow, do you think your doctor at Rocky Mountain Internal would write the medications which I was on before CPR? Like the 100mcg Fentanyl Duragesic for my long acting and 6 30mg IR oxy for my break thru? Sorry to be so specific but I'm just tired of paying $175 every month and being cut down to 4 30s a day when 6 was working SOOO much better.

Hi CJK,

Hey therhope you're doing well. First off, I'm very sorry about your uncle. I am glad that good ol' Mary Jane is helping him! I personally cannot reap the healing benefits from her as my disease does not allow her to help me, actually has effects that hinder me :( Anyhoo... :) ...
Soooo, are you willing to talk to me/start talking to me :) ? I've been a long time visitor/reader, just recent actual poster to this thread. I'm a very open, some may say too open n trusting gal, but *shrug*, that's just me. So, please lemme know...I'm in kind of a pickle actually right now...headed out of state to help take care of 2 family members, (one post-op), so I'm not able to take care of myself here in 'rado due to lack of time before I leave and my physical location for a lil while. I'm good peps, as it sounds you are too :) So could we chat n (ok, sounds cheesey but Im gonna just say it), start to become friends??? Hope youre having a great night & hope to talk to you soon.
Thanks and be well,
K
