Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 275)
UpdatedI have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Re: Brambo (# 5481)
I will, and I pray you are right!
Re: Gigi (# 5480)
Not sure if you are aware, but Mac took his own life years ago!
You're right, this is old, but maybe refrain from being judge, jury, and executioner!
This was supposed to be a support group. We fell away from it due to posts such as yours.
Thanks for sharing, share time is over!
Re: MaC686 (# 6)
Hope You are STILL in the LOOKING cause you calling others Junkies is Judging; and YOU are dependent on drugs- addiction is Not being able to function ( Your Words) without that substance. Most doctors will tell you; you can use non-narcotic pain meds to control The pain you mentioned!
Re: MaC686 (# 12)
I did not see anywhere where you were accused of lying. She was simply stating that degenerative disks do not heal, but only get worse, which is true,
However, it may be different in a younger patient. Your body may indeed heal.
But I'm older, and mine will only get worse; I get steroid injections every few months to reduce the pain.
They are doing artificial disk replacements now, but you have to be either wealthy or have awesome insurance. I hope this is an option for you, and you consider apologizing to that woman.
She was simply stating the facts as she knows them, not attacking you, but trying to help you.
The pain makes us edgy and defensive at times. Be kind, it will help you get more suggestions for help. Best wishes, and God bless.
Re: Smalls (# 5483)
How terribly sad regarding Mac. Please guys don't judge others, you have no idea they have been through in the past, and little of what they are going through now. Kindly answer questions without personal attacks or judgements.
I posted for awhile here several years ago. There were some really great people here at that time. Posts were helpful with lots of good info and encouragement.
Re: MaC686 (# 2)
I had a Doctor that had barely looked at my medical records and walked in, with out ever even seeing me or talking to me said, in a very mean tone of voice, "I do NOT prescribe THOSE types of medicines". First I had been taking "THOSE types of medications" for many YEARS. Second, I never took anything more than hydrocodone/acetaminopen 7.5 mg x 30 per month. Lastly, I was not there for a prescription refill. Only an initial consultation.
Re: Kay (# 5)
People who are smart will NEVER recommend a Doctor by name. That Doctor would be overrun with people looking for some one to prescribe pain medications.
Re: MaC686 (# 8)
It is the drug abusers that have found out how inexpensive and clean the pharmaceutical drugs are that ruined it for everyone else,
Re: Janet (# 11)
I never call anyone out unless I am sure of their position. Btw, if you take "shots" to relieve pain the long term use of "shots" will be more harmful than pills (according to three Doctors that I have spoken to),
Re: cliff j (# 5488)
Try Louisville Medical Center Douglas Lernar
He is very conservative and you will have to have medical records, they offer all different modalities of pain relief including medications.
He will not take any crap. If you fail a UA, do not have your correct count or any other BS, he will discharge you. Not you per se, but any one and everyone. Good luck
Re: Bravesfan (# 5487)
Some of us are still here, just not as much time to read and post now that I am out living my life!
Re: Shari (# 5486)
Amen! Thank you very much for the she advice!
Mac was a good person.
Re: Shari (# 5486)
Shari, you are so right. We shouldn’t be judging others when we have no idea how life may have scarred them and how their particular pain effects them. We all have our own issues to live with. I loved the encouragement people gave each other here at one time. That’s hard to find online. So many sites are people just bickering with each other. Thanks for your post.
Re: SMALLS (# 5493)
Small, I completely understand. We are all so busy with our daily lives. I just lost my husband in October after 24 years of marriage and it has been and still is hard to deal with. I still don’t feel myself. God is taking care of me and I am so great full for that. My current situation has really made me understand that I should be careful judging others, they could be desljj in my with s situation like I am. Thank you so much for the post.
What is wrong with these doctors?
Re: Bravesfan (# 5496)
I am so very sorry for your loss! I have been with my hubby over 30 years and I could not imagine losing him. I would be devastated. Please take time to grieve and go through every single stage of the grieving process, AT YOUR OWN PACE! Please find a friend or relative you can trust to have your back and advocate for you. Also, listen to this person if and when the time comes to seek a professional! Losing a life partner can break a person. Losing a child can break a person. Everyone needs someone they trust implicitly! Hugs, and may God bring you peace as soon as humanly possible!
Re: Gigi (# 5479)
Mac is dead by suicide, I am sure judgmental people like yourself contributed!
Good job! You should be ashamed of yourself. Look at yourself in the mirror and ask, "HOW CAN I DO BETTER"?
Re: Shari (# 5485)
Mac took his own life years ago! This thread helped a lot of us through it! Most have gone to the way side!
