Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 271)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I have tons of health problems varying from oxygen deficiency to multiple pain issues. I am 30 years old and I am trying to find a doctor comfortable enough to prescribe me Oxycontin pain meds. Any doctor recommendations would help. I have documents from the Kaiser office of all my chronic pain issues.

Which Dr. is better, which is worse, I don't know. Consider some alternatives like, Nurse Practitioners or Certified Registered Nurses. Look at my thread, 5401, and see some of the BS I've gone through and am going through. I currently use 4 Dr.s and 1 Certified Registered Nurse

My saga continues with the termination of my PC (Teller County) Spring of 2017. Over 400 of us tossed out with no alternative help (and no prescriptions to hold us until we could get into Pain Management). I feel for you completely with how you are being treated. Pain Management - What a joke!! I drive over an hour to the Springs monthly for less than a 1/4 of what I require to function.

First, Have you heard of the Department of Regulatory Agencies; D.O.R.A? Always keep D.O.R.A. in mind when you have discrepancies with Healthcare Providers, BUT be sure NOT to tell said Healthcare Providers of your knowledge about D.O.R.A. If you do share your knowledge about D.O.R.A with Healthcare Providers, IT WILL PISS THEM OFF!!! When you have a discrepancy with a Healthcare Provider, simply file a complaint with D.O.R.A... In most cases, you won't hear a word from D.O.R.A. or the Healthcare Provider, BUT the Healthcare Provider WILL feel the effects of D.O.R.A. Second, in Colorado, Healthcare Providers must give patients a 90 day notice before terminating provided Healthcare... If Healthcare Providers do not, complaints should be filed with D.O.R.A. Third, and NO this is NOT intended to be as healthcare advice, but it is possible to use a combination of "Over the counter" medications and "Food" items to help with taking the edge off of pain... Example- Drinking HOT Jello at bedtime, 3 times a week, helps relieve Arthritis Joint Pain... Mix 1 small package of Jello with 12 ounces of HOT water and drink as you would a HOT cup of coffee or tea. Myself, I'd a lot rather drink HOT Jello 3 times a week than add another PILL to my list of medications... And, so what if my A1c is higher, at least I have some Arthritic Pain Relief!... Off the subject, I suffered from Diarrhea for almost 2 years... I couldn't be away from a toilet for more than 15 minutes at any given time 24/7... Well, this Healthcare Provider said take this pill and another said take that pill and many, many times with telling me, "We need to stick this tube up you and this tube down you..." Now, you won't believe what the cure was... I threw away all those Anti-diarrhea medications and began drinking 1 glass of MILK at bedtime... I haven't had Diarrhea since!

Hi, I am in Denver and I have been on pain meds for 17 years, I am 57 and I have Spinal Stenosis and have a recent MRI (2018) showing this but due to the overreaction to the opiate crisis, I am having an incredibly frustrating and scary search for a new Dr to prescribe me the meds I need to function. If anyone knows of a DR that takes medicaid that can write me the meds I need I would be eternally grateful for the help! God bless

Stressed and in pain (# 5408) --

Take all your recent records and recent prescription bottles and go to the ER inquiring about referrals to Pain Management Dr.'s... Ask if they will make the appointment for you... DO NOT REFUSE any date or time if they are willing to make the appointment... DO NOT go to the ER and ask for pain medication, let the ER Dr.'s make their own determination on if you need some "IMMEDIATE" pain medication while they look up some referrals for you... Many times they will evaluate your immediate needs in reference as to when another Dr. can see you... The University Hospital is a good place to go... You may be seen in the ER and establish a Pain Management Dr. all in the same day.

Saw your post on MedsChat and was wondering if you could help me out? Looking for a Doc who is not scared to prescribe mild to moderate strength opioids for pain. Hydrocodone would be ideal but even Tylenol 4 or Tylenol 3 would probably work. My doc won't give me anything but Tramadol and that stuff is worthless. And I really don't want to have to use marijuana.

This is not good news, both your situation and national if not a global trend. In addressing the worst drug crisis in history the drug manufacturers have been ordered by the DEA and justice department to cut production of 8 commonly misused narcotics. A key manufacturer actually stopped production due the actual plant failing industry standards. That incident had nothing to do with the new regulations. The industry has quotas which will be considerably less than 2018. There has been a sharp decline in opiates produced over the past 3 years according to the DEA. There is a further reduction taking place now so the 2019 quota can be met. I doubt anybody will be put on pain drugs anytime soon. I believe the era of pain pills and script writers is over. There is also a sharp cutback in psuedoephedrine drugs as well. The drug war has been escalated overseas as well. SE Asia, South America, and Mexico as well. I know people who have been cut off their medicine who switched over to suboxone. There are methadone clinics that have no cap on patient load but as a strict precaution are encouraged to limit the amount of milligrams dosages given out. I havent heard any more about the government cracking down on medical pot like they spoke of earlier in the year.

Re: CO Susie (# 5404) Expand Referenced Message

This is what is causing people to go out and seek street drugs. I have been on subutex for over 10 years now and I don’t take anything besides that. I don’t drink, I don’t party and I don’t do drugs. I moved here and can not find a subutex dr that I can afford. I’m going out of my mind. I have been thru the withdrawals several of times but I can’t do it again. I feel completely helpless. When everything was not regulated so much people did not have to go to the street if they were in dire straights. Now people will avoid withdrawal symptoms and start heroin because it’s the only thing they can find. I have had friends do this and die. Too many. I am on my last pill. I am at the end of my rope. I don’t know what to do anymore. This has been an ongoing problem for so long. So many people are just trying to make it thru the day with pain. It doesn’t make sense. We should be on this earth enjoying our lives. We should have more control over what we decide to put in our own bodies. As long as we are not abusing and we are getting thru the day why can’t we have are damn medications? Each generation there is a higher percentage of people in the United States living unfulfilled lives and are depressed. We can’t even get to a normal level of happiness. The most we can expect is to get by. What kind of life is that to just want to be able to get by? Can you imagine just living this life and the expectation now days is I just want to get thru it? We are being robbed of our rights more and more and we are settling for life’s that are mediocre. Life was supposed to be special. It is a miracle that we are even born. I don’t understand why I can’t just take what I need to keep me off of pain pills and live my life. I am fed up. I’m so angry, frustrated and miserable. Why even live that kind of life. Our quality of life is plummeting. If anyone knows where to find a subuxone dr that is affordable please let me know. Desperate.

I agree totally I was denied by the Dr who helped me get my disability and had a spinal stimulator in my back. The battery is dead and he won’t see me to get a new one. How’s that for ediquett. Pain is what I stay in.

Not pain management drs, they just want to do inj's, pt, and addiction recovery. Medicaid only for that so I guess I stick with Dr lincoln.

I just saw your post today. I'm so sorry that I missed it, because I certainly would have answered you. I hope things are working out for you now. It's been a rough couple years for me. I'm on my third doctor in the past two years. One was fired and the other retired. Had to go to Pain Management Clinic for my pain medication. Again, I hope things are going better for you.

Re: janedoe (# 5415) Expand Referenced Message

Lost two Primary Drs in the past two years, one was fired and the other retired. The one I have now isn't allowed to write pain medications, so I've been going to a Pain Management Clinic, which sucks compared to having a Primary who can write. I've heard lots about people being forced to take shots in order for them to write the pain prescriptions. Sounds like a money racket to me.

Try googling meditronic pain pump. It's good for pain in your spine. It's a small dosage powerful way to control pain. Refill the pump every 3 months.

LOL! It's 2019 and I bet they don't fill medications like that now, cause they are strict now, or some of the doctors lost their license...
