I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

I knw what your going thru janey girl. It really sux we have to jump thru hoops Becouse of all these people who abuse the system for a habit. It really makes it hard for us the people how really need em. Mac and Tammy have been really help full in pointing me in the right direction. Like you said there is thousands of dr's out there but really hard to find a good 1 that really understands what u are going thru. I gave CPR a call and they seem really helpful. There just waiting on my records do I can get an appt. I'll let u knw how it goes once I see the doc. Just keep your head up you will find the rite doc for u.

Regian hang in there, I had transfer my life and move to Denver area too. it has not been easy. You are on the best site to actually have understanding ppl and info.im not sure if you have insurance or not but I willgive you a lead you can cal land get a complimentarty consultation also they can verify if they take your insurance, or they (I think) will work with cash payments if it's through Carecredit or what i'm not sure . I apologize I cant find the card but I can help in a way that I can my daughter just camehome etc..in Arvada Co.....its a health group Unified....and its been a blessing to me thry domore then just meds.good luck I hope this helps if you do some addition...alilsubtraction putit together. I didn't think so either! It isn't the Dr's that are an
Issue! It was the pharmacy! They told me that because
There were three different Dr's who wrote for me
That I would b "red flagged"! My regular Dr wrote
My regular script, the referral wrote the second and when still unable to get an appointment his partner wrote the third! I couldn't believe this! I had an appointment with a reputable Dr, was informed I might have to pay for the visit because my insurance might not cover! I stated it wouldn't b an issue, I could always put the charges into the insurance company myself! I get to the appointment only to find out they didn't take checks! I never expected such problems finding a good Dr! It seems like there are thousands out there but there aren't! Tried your referral, thanks so much! Awaiting a call back!

Don't worry about looking like dr. Shopping you are being referred and not getting multiple scripts for pain meds from different doctors at the same time so you are ok on that. And its colorado pain relief in wheatridge. Hope you get things in control and find the right doctor.

Who is the Dr? I've been stabilized for 3 years on a program. My Dr due to all these new rules decided not to do pain management any longer. Everyone I've contacted does "intervential pain management", I've done years of that with no results. Taking my meds has given me my life back! I'm back to work,enjoying life and able to live. I keep getting referral's to different Dr's now I'm afraid I'll look like I'm Dr shopping.I'm just trying to find a Dr who will take me as a patient. Would appreciate any help!

Oh I'm incredibly opinionated when I need to be. I'm not lowering anything. if anything I'm getting one more methadone. But thank you very much for the heads up Tam. I've never once ever had an issue with meds and I'm doing EVERYTHING I can short of surgery to help my back. Acupuncture, chiropractic, inversion/decompression therapy, physical therapy, and I'm even trying si joint injections on tuesday but I'm not going to tell her that cuz many doctors think if you get an injection even if it doesn't help with pain that meds should be lowered.

Just so u know kati has left and went to a different office she is doing interventional pain management with some other dr and the new pa kind of has that god complex and is trying to change meds without discussing it with dr. May or anything but just have to remind her what kati and you have as a plan that is working or have her call kati. She didn't change me but almost tried till she seen and heard that mine can't be changed but then said that I should try to cut them in half since I am young just fyi for u mac since u are younger than me she might say or try something. Just speak up and it should be ok.

Honestly of you go in and have your diagnostics and say basically what you said to me, that you went to a doctor who only wanted injections and to take you off the only thing that helps. You want to get back to living a normal life with your kids and that you're willing to work with them to get your pain under control and you will so other things such as physical therapy and stuff like that.But i can't tell you exactly what to say man I'm not you. Say your situation that you're in. And no problem with all the help. I know how hard it is when you are given the shaft.

What do you think Mac? How should I go about my appt? What should I say? I just want to be back on track and get my pain under controll so I can keep coaching my kids and do what I normally do. I say give it a shot. You can still get injections from other docs if they help. But that's how I felt with my methadone and oc. I don't mind having my breakthru meds lowered as long as my XR is increased and my pain is managed. And really XRs are the ONLY way to go with chronic pain.

I have a doctor in Denver who is nice. I get 150 oxycodone 30's and 300 methadone 10s and 100mcg Fentnyl patch 72 hours for long last the others are for short acting and and like mid acting cus methadone last longer than oxycodone and i get tizianidine 4 mg gabapentin, topamax, tofranil,and paxil, because I was ejected out of a car at 60mph when someome fell asleep and hit us head on at 60 mph and the force snapped my searbelt out I went thru the windshield and landed 30 feet away they said i woke up 2 weeks later I broke my back both arms my left legs femur 6 ribs my collar bone my jaw in 9 spots(it was shattered not broke the doctors said it looked like they ground up most of my jaw I broke my nose my right cheek Bone my right eye socket and fractured my skull in several spots and broke both hands but they fixed me up almost as good as new i still got like 8-12 more surgeries but my pain doctor in Denver is super nice just email me {edited for privacy} And put in subject where we met so I know it's ok to click on

I have records and MRI from my old doc. I tryed a new doc last month and he gave me enjections witch really helped. The only thing is he droppede me down to the 15z Becouse he don't like giving narcos. I don't mind taking more of the ms cotton and less oxy as long as my pain is under controll. I just don't want to go back Becouse he wants to take me off for good. That would be great but I had a hard time with the 15z last month. I have a wife n 4 kids and my kids are verry active in sports. There in football baseball n wrestling. I can't really be active w them w out my meds.

Last month he lowerd me to 15z Becouse he don't like writing narcos. Witch is cool with me even if I have to take more of the ms cotton and less oxy. As long as my pain is under control. I just don't want to go back to him Becouse he wants to take me off of all narcos. That would be great but I sufferd last month w the 15z. I have a wife m 4 kids. My kids are verry active in sports and I can't really be active w them with out my meds. They play football baseball n wrestling. This last month was hard to do anything just taking the 15z

If u have legit diagnostics I couldn't see that being a problem. they might do 2 of the 100mg ms contin and drop you to 3 oc tho. But idk. If you have real problems and can prove it you won't waste your money. But they're more strict now so you will absolutely need diagnostics.

Hey Mac I think it's great you are hear to help the ones who truly need it. I was thinking of making an appt. at CPS and just don't want to through my $ away. Iv been taking 4 30 mg oxy with 2 60mg ms cotton a day. But I need a new doc. If u can get back to me soon will be great. Thanx a bunch for your help.

I think the exact same Mac686 & Tammy. Someone got called out on their visit & didn't like the outcome! Those DEA papers are confidential, not easy to get ahold of like a newspaper! Like I said, Dr. May has been totally by the book every time I've been. Also a reali great & understanding doctor that actually listens to your problem & actually does something to help you reduce your pain!! There is nothing we can do about the situation anyways. They seem to be on top of what they need to be doing.I just hope if there are still more seekers coming in the office they catch them all & send them on their way!! I'm glad to be a patient of Dr.May & am not going anywhere & I doubt the doctor is either!! So tired of suffering because of people that take advantage of the system & the true chronic pain patients suffer!! Sori bout the essay. Good luck & take care all u legit pain sufferers!!!@

That's what's up RGIII ONE!!!!!! It's good to hear that from someone else. I just don't see a doctor showing a patient a DEA form that I doubt is even given to doctors in the first place, let alone letting their patients see it. There are SO many laws of privacy protection that I just can't see a doctor having a list from the DEA about other doctors, and I DEFINITELY can't see the doctor freely showing it to everyone. Plus all the people who asked haven't received a response about this supposed letter that her friend saw first, but then she herself saw it!!! But I'm not worried. I am still a patient there and Dr. May told me exactly what is going on. Plus the comment makes no sense anyway. First she "knew" CPR is closing so she went to a new doctor, and then saw a DEA list with Dr. May's name. Makes no sense....
