Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 249)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Hi MaC686, Gee your really on such a large dose of methadone plus 5 30 milligrams of other Opioids. It's hard to get a doctor to prescribe such a large amount.. I'm 58 years and I have a rough time with my doctor just to get 25 MCG of Fentanyl and 3 15 mg of morphine a day. Maybe you will find a doctor to look into your pain and how to prescribe some other types of Opioids that can help with your pain. I had 2 neck surgeries,3 lower back surgeries and 6 fractures in my T-spine. I'm in excruciating pain but what I mentioned is all I get to help my pain. If I tell my doctor just to up my Fentanyl patch to 50mcg he gets upset. I take what I can get and suffer to a certain extent. It's sad because I just want to be pain free foe a least of couple of days to feel normal again. These laws the DEA have is just so sad because other people like me deserve to be somewhat pain free with out the hassle. Other legal drugs like alcohol and cigarettes hurt so many people which seems no big deal to the ones that control it. Please help people that really need these pain medicines not the ones who abuse them. The law should be less for doctors who prescribe and people who really need Opioids for pain. Please write your state Representatives to alleviate these crazy laws so people can be pain free. Thankyou

Wow! Lots has gone on while I've been gone! Sadly, I was spending the last days with a friend who lost her battle with cancer! Joe, Mac's right! That's a pretty big dose to be taking! I don't know anyone around that would prescribe even close to that amount! I suspect they would try you on a different combination of meds that are not so sedating, many of these issues that we r facing are from non pain doc's prescribing and inappropriately and having patient's die! Especially combining them with fentanyl! It builds up in your system slowly and what worked for u one week may kill u the next! I've known of three folks just in the past 6 months where this happened! One gal fell asleep while watching a movie with her head on her friend's lap, only to waken to her being dead! It's scary when it hits home with someone u know! I've given lists of other doc's in this thread, look through and find many names! Most of us here now go the CPR, I've found them to b the best and r really happy with their services! Can't believe it's been nine months now! What hit me this month was the difficulty in even finding my meds this past month! The guys up there are shocked also and has to re-write scripts because they could only b partially filled but in addition to that, my scripts were double what they were last month and nothing changed! I was shocked! I'm on what I'd call a lower dose and it was over $300! The pharmacies in my area are pulling out their hair! They go through their "allotment" and since they also fill the local two hospitals, they have nothing left over for new surgical patient's! It just seems to be getting worse and worse! My pharmacist said he wondered if H was going up also! Everyone I know is getting frustrated! The doc's, pharmacies and us! I'm definately writing at this point! Can't hurt, might help, why not? It's not like they don't already know I'm taking this stuff! It's documented in triplicate at this point anyway!

It's sad that the people in severe pain like myself are treated like criminals. How could they let us suffer in pain like we have for other peoples abuse of these medications. So many people have problems with cigarettes and drinking an you still can go to the store anytime to get it. We have to go through hell to get pain relief. At least we try to do legal which is getting impossible anymore. It's really sad and a crime to help people in pain. That should be a crime not to help us!!!!! Thanks

I understand completely. I had a fractured neck, several fractures in my T-spine and two operations on my lumber spine. I'm am fully disabled. My pain doctor treats me like an a**hole. I use my medicine just for my pain and do not abuse under any circumstance. I been on the same amount of medicine for 7 years and he won't help with the next dose of medicine. I feel like I"m treated like a dog and drug addict. Where do people get such high doses of medicine. I understand completely. I hardly can function with my pain.

Honestly Joe, I don't see any clinic prescribing 6 30s a day, 5 15s, and 100mcg of fentanyl. The DEA is cracking down like CRAZY on instant release pain meds and pushing doctors to do more long acting and less breakthru. but let me know if you find a place that is willing to do that many IRs. Rainbow, if you don't mind me asking, what are you prescribed?

They might manage your pain with Percocet and Tylenol. But I have severe pain issues and am in 240 30s, 150 15s , fentanyl 100Mcg and they would not prescribe that. They preferred me to a pain management clinic which they are not.

DO NOT go to rocky mountain. They.are not pain management. They are general Dr and will refer you to a pain doc. You will waste Money if you already.are diagnosed with chronic pain

It's because CPR has had SOOO many people discharged because of being sneaky little poops that try to screw the system to make themselves feel high and so it's given CPR a bad name!!! And I completely agree that things need to change. it's not right. I'm only 23. If I can't get meds when I'm 35 and in worse pain then, I don't know what I would do. Probably end up using H unfortunately. Because I NEED the pain control. But H is so much more dirty and acidic and just bad for you. Plus it's cut like crazy with God only knows what. But I agree, we should try to mail our representatives to try to enact change. It's the same as with our government policies. The people need to stand up and fight back for our rights.

MaC686 Hi there this is f100, was reading some of the post. .....the state of california passed thier law called the pain patients bill of rights, changing the law wit hthe help of dr. Forest Tenant and legistrators but they did and it lets the people who have intractable pain get the meds the need. California has also limited the number of meds a pharmacy can have at a time, hence the dea really are the ones. But it does take all the people that live in pain every day to get these laws changed. I wanted to get some kind of advocacy group here in Nebraska to try and get this done but have no luck so far. Seems like this is going on in alot of states. thier are a few that have changed thier statues to help the people in pain get enough meds to carry on a comfortable life. Look up Dr. Forest Tenant on Google he is a well known and one if not the best pain Dr. He does alot of studies and writes numerous papers on pain and the treatment of it. please look him up he has a handbook guide to treating pain. you can get free copies. well worth your time and can learn from it.

I will write them too!! Its just getting way out of hand!! For some reason i went to Target Pharmacy to get my scripts from CPR filled but was told that Target will no longer be able to fill any scripts from CPR. Not sure why,i was just told the corporate office sent a letter to all Target Pharmacy workers not to fill CPR scripts. Just a little heads up for anyone that goes to them for your pharmacy needs. Im kinda worried about this & why they are not filling for CPR!! Hope all is well with our doctor because they are the most caring & understanding clinic ive been too!! Everyone have a great holiday!!!

I'm down to write our reps. I just feel like something has to happen at the federal level. I know the DEA is just trying to keep people from dying but they are making it to where doctors are literally scared to even write pain meds even in situations where they're needed. I guess it couldn't hurt to try.... What do you think Tam?

U two know I agree! BUT I was talking to an attorney that told me that we should be calling or writing our representatives! I told him I didn't like the idea because we r already judged, what happens if they know our names! He said we didn't have to give our names! He said to write the reps and tell them the issues we are having and basically being judged for our issues! That we aren't being able to truly get good medical care because the doctors are afraid, pharmacies are now making it impossible to even get our meds- using up even more of the doctors times than they need to, pharmacies can't even get the meds in, making many people go without and being accused of being a "Dr shopper" if u even interview doctors. Basically that we r being discriminated against for legitimate medical issue! I've heard the DEA realizes that they have gone too far, maybe writing letters could help! What's your thoughts? Something has to be done! There are always going to b folks like that lady but what about us that have real issues? Do we just keep jumping through more and more hoops, to the point that we can't even get decent medical care and be functional anymore! I'm going to talk to the guys when I go again and c if they have any great ideas! Would love to hear yours!

I agree with you Tammy! Don't screw it up for us. If people insist on getting high, do it without medications. It pisses me off so badly.

Hey guys I have great news, my old pain dr. called me yesterday and I have a appt. on Monday.thank god. i called all the places everyone suggested and the earliest I could get in was with ,uh I forgot the name but I believe u go there rainbow flowers.but they told me they don't do long term pain treatment and the soonest I could get in was jan.16.but my old pain dr. Isn't seeing new patients til next month and right now they are only getting his old patients in that haven't found a pain dr.but he's out in pueblo but we'll worth the drive.hes awesome. And then next month he is going to open up down her again in grand junction,I can't give out there number but as soon as I can I will post it for anyone that still need ps a dr.he is a great dr.he gave me my life back 4 yrs .ago and truly believes in pain meds.his thing is ,you have to live your life and being in chronic pain is like being tortured everyday.he truly believes that people in chronic pain need to have the best quality of life .he listens to u and asks you what works the best for you.when he first opened up down here in grand junction he got rid of all the drug seekers.and there was a lot.but I'm just so excited to be able to be back with him .hes also a internal medicine dr.and specializes in fibromyalgia .there are still so many dr.s who don't believe in fibromyalgia or are uneducated about it.when I saw him the first time he was like a breath a fresh air and always smiling and happy.he also does IV's and p.t.but I want to thank you Mac for starting this blog and everyone else ,I always felt welcomed with you guys and knowing other people are dealing with some of the same issues ,you don't feel so alone.this blog got me through some days ,just by reading.so thank you everyone and as soon as I can I will post all the info about my dr.

I agree but the h use has gone up past pain meds since they are harder to get now. But i say stick to the h addicts leave the meds for us who need them.

I agree 100%. But don't expect help from Obama that's all I can say. But all these problems are from people who have abused meds to make themselves feel high and have gotten the DEA involved because more people die from pain meds than from coke and H combined. And those are the people abusing them. So screw people like that lady telling me I'm too judgmental. She's not in pain. She's just a junkie. And is screwing up being able to live a normal life for many other people who are absolutely legitimate. It pisses me right off.
