Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 220)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

One thing to remember, Since the (CSA) Controlled Substance Act was changed in 2012 Yet again. Most Doctors will try every other Pain Management option possible. When all else fails, only then, will they prescribe a full opoid antagonist.

medschat post #199
I lost my pain dr to retirement & am having a tough time finding anyone to write anything but Butrans patches.
Would you share the name of your provider?
I'm old, with xrays & docs to prove my case.
Thanks!!!

Hep C people-Bristol-Meyers is developing a drug which cures Hep C in 7 days!

2 pills a day, no shots, no side effects!

I was in the first clinical study and am still virus free after 9 months.

I don't have a red card but occasionally take edibles (THC) for pain and nausau. I specifically asked Joe, Mike and the other that works there if it was ok if I was positive for THC. They said that was fine. "Just don't come in stoned" is all

kuaka, thats interesting about nicotine. I am a smoker and all of my drs say that nicotine is one of the reasons I have pain. Maybe its not nicotine, must be all the other stuff they add to the cigarettes I might try getting some straight nicotine and try it. Can you use vapor?

70 you can also take Milk Thistle. It has regenerated the livers of alcoholics who had cirrhosis and made them like new. I use it as well as something for my kidneys.

I am in the same situation but now the two doctors I'm seeing call me a liability and won't help me. I have had six spine surgeries and I'm still in constant pain. If you find a doctor please please let me know. I'm so sorry you have to go through this, most doctors don't understand and have lost their ability to care.

Just a message to everyone, it seems to me, that the more I know, which my doctor noticed very readily how much I know about all this stuff, what it does to you, how it functions in the body, all that stuff. But it seems to me the more you know, and the more your doctor can see you know, like being very concerned about knowing everything you can about these medications helps them to trust that you aren't a drug seeker, and that you TRULY care about being healthy and not just having a bunch of drugs to feel high. At least with my doctor, he was blown away (in a good way) about how much I know about these drugs. He even told me he can tell that surgery would be a terrible idea for me and that I need these medications because 7 different back conditions obviously cause a ton of pain and surgery would MAYBE fix one or two, but I would still be in pain and still need meds, maybe even more, due to the surgery tearing through a bunch of my muscle tissue, leaving fibrin (scar tissue) behind to cause even more problems and pain. All that to say, do your research, know everything you can about everything concerning these powerful medications. It seems to help greatly, at least in my case. I just figured I would share this info, as I have tried sharing info on these drugs specifically, but nothing compares to doing the research yourself.

70-it is possible to take Norco for years with no liver impact. There is a list called The Liver Friendly Diet. Follow it's suggestions if you cannot switch.

I had Hep C for 25 yes ( now cured- the drug will be out soon), and many years on 4 Norco a day. I have the liver of a woman half my age.

Just DON'T DRINK! Alcohol and Tylenol are the fatal mix..

Since cannabis is legal in Colorado, does CPR not allow you to come up positive for THC? I was just thinking about that, I tried cannabis for the first time 2 weeks ago, edibles, to see if it would help with pain...now I'm scared :/

I am in pain constantly and cannot find a Dr. In Colorado that will give me a pain med. My back is so bad and have degenerative and herniated discs and am treated like a junky. I lie in bed at night and rock and cry . I want to know where people who get the meds and sell them for outrageous amounts get them and why a Dr. Won't listen or give a damn about his patients . I cannot live like this andwon't so what is our government doing but making us have to buy them illegally of of the people who don't need them that can get them . I am outraged by what is going on here. I have been to Dr. after Dr. and they want to put you on anti depressants because I am in pain .Please anyone that has a Dr. that gives a darn and listens please in Colorado let me know. I can't do this pain anymore. I feel like I am going crazy with living in so much pain. What the neck did Dr.'s no take and oath to help people? I don't get it. Because of people who abuse them or get them and sell them we are not allowed them . God help us all.

I made an interesting discovery the other day. I saw a post about nicotene being useful for joint pain. I am not a smoker, but I thought I'd give it a try. I went for a plain tobacco product...not chemicals or paper...a small Danish cigar. I don't want the chemicals they treat American cigarettes with or the papers they are wrapped in. Anyway, I got almost immediate relief from knee pain which has been flaring up due to weather swings. I hate the taste and don't want to make a habit of it, but it is good for some instant relief for a couple of hours. I shared one with a friend who is a smoker and he couldn't finish it...said it was too strong. I only smoke about 1/3 of a cigarette sized cigar every other day or so when needed, so I'm not really concerned about it becoming a habit...but it does help some.

Time Release is an interesting concept. I got to sit in on a presentation at the Mayo Clinic a few years ago on a "new" time release pain med they were working on. They determined that it would work fine for the Scandivavian populaiton of Minnesota but that it would likely overdose 30% of Indians (from India). It was due to the time release being based on an enzyme, the presence of which is linked to genetic markers. I must have few of those markers, as time release medicines do not release for me. My wife must have several, as she time releases "all at once". Only seek a "time release" medicine if they work as expected for you. Your mileage may vary.

Your all very kind and welcoming. I will definitely be talking to my dr next month reguarding the more safe norco with ibuprofen instead of tylonal. Ì am so glad I found this forum. I have learned a lot about a wide variety of things associated with pain. I also now understand why dr's are so leary to prescribe medicine lately. I have seen some disturbing posts from people who are abusing their medicine. Or medicine their buying off the streets. And other posts of people asking to try to score drugs on here. Someone said it best when they said this is not the drug classifieds. Anyway thanks every one for making me feel so welcomed here. I think this is a great forum and awesome thread.
