Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 188)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Please can someone help me find a pain Dr in Minnesota that will be ok with allowing their patients to choose to be on methadone for pain control and addictive control and also be allowed to be on cxycodone. For breakthrough pain. My past Dr s pushing me to do one or the other but I know my body after twenty years of pAin issues. I know what will work and also keep me from turning into someone that only can live being high. I want control while being awake and aware and informed educated about what can happen to me if I loose control. See I been trying;u abuse and have to say at one point I got addicted . Yes to being somewhat pain free. Everyone will that has experienced what I have.I. don't want pain free I've learned. I want to feel something but know that I will live with some pain. I don't want my goal to be that I feel nothing . Cuz then I loose it all. I love my kids too much to put them thru stress again. But I want to just be able to control myself methadone helps long term and controls pain but also at low doses makes u be able to get some fast pin relief from your cxycodone fast acting. That's my solution for me but I need a Dr that is ok with methadone in low doses. It saved my life and is a miracle drug if you know how u adjust to its benefits. Please help me transfer to good judgmental Dr in MINNESOTA that will help me do the right thing for myself. I live in this. Skin. Does anyone agree with me at all. Please reply.angie....

Karina, thank you. I looked them up and there are a lot of drs there- do you know which one is good? I'm thinking Dr B because of the reviews.

Wendy, which clinic were you referring to?

For everyone, what level of relief is generally expected from meds? I know I'll never be pain free, but for at least a year I've gotten maybe 10-20% relief which to me isn't acceptable. My doc kept telling me I just have to push myself but I feel like if I don't get above a certain threshold (idk, 50% or something) I can't function at all no matter how hard I fight. But on days I have a little relief Im able to push myself over the hump and do some things. Is that what most people experience?
Wish all of you well.

Hi Jazmin.. This place is called Metro Denver Pain in DTC..Off E Belleview ave.. They have been wonderful. Im finally getting the support & care that i've needed. They're very detailed w your background which to me is great. It just shows that they're there to help you as a whole person. There's a Dr. Who is dble certified so they focus on Everything. No just the pain. I have insurance so im not familiar of their policies re" Medicaid, Medicare. I hope this helps. There's another one in Lakewood called Rocky Mountain pain solutions off Union blvd. They also were willing to see me etc....but at the end I went with the Dr I have now and cancelled the appt with them. I truly hope this helps... Well.....good luck....Have a wonderful day. :-)

Sorry karina I'm confused, I thought you were talking about rmim on Potomac. I was hoping to find a primary care but I don't know now if I should go to pain specialist or what. I've heard so many horror stories about the clinics and being treated like an addict. My pain is generalized and I've had diagnoses from fibro, lupus, immune system, etc but no injury or spine prob so it seems like drs think it's either psychological or I shouldn't be on pain meds for these things. But I've tried so many other meds (neurontin, skeleton, antidepressants, etc) and nothing else has helped. I'm so scared right now because my depression has gotten really bad and I feel desperate but my doctor interprets this as drug seeking. I hope I can find a compassionate doctor.

Sheri, I'm pretty new here (and to pain mgmt) but I've been doing tons of research on the docs/clinics around denver. Another clinic that takes (only) cash is metro multidisciplinary doctors on Lincoln but they charge a little more than CPR. I have not been there but they were very friendly when I called with questions. Fyi they also issue MMJ cards (with a separate appt/charge $70). I think this is helpful since I've heard some clinics will dismiss patients for using marijuana. Personally I have not had success with it for pain but if it helps someone I think it's wrong for doctors to say you can't use it.
I would highly recommend applying for Medicaid immediately or go to Connect for Health Colorado to get insurance, it is pretty affordable and many qualify for subsidized premiums. You will pay a penalty with IRS for not having insurance, not to mention insurance will probably cost less than $250/mo you'd pay for pain clinic alone. Coverage can begin on the 1st day of next month.
Otherwise you might have to call around, I know some clinics do not take self-pay (presumably because of 'doctor shopping' though it doesn't make sense with the monitoring programs). I hope this helps.

I've done a lot of calling, research, etc.....looking for the right place for myself. So if you need anything feel free to ask. Id be more than happy to share with you any info that may may be of any help to you. Have a wonderful day today. Take care.

I would like to say I really really feel bad for you. I have the exact same problem, with one little twist. My doctor said that she was afraid that I would get hooked on the narcotics, so I need to just take extra strength Tylenol. I thought, you must be out of your mind. However, here i am two years later still in pain.

Hey T. How have you been? You sound like me. I have so much metal in me that I sometimes set off the store alarms walking in!!! I would love to chat with you so I could help. In the meantime.... What part of Colorado do you live in..and do you have insurance..? Id be more than happy to share with you any information that i've gathered while researching for myself. What I think i'm going to do tonight is compile a list of "Pain Specialists"..and policies regarding meds and what they are willing to prescribe, Etc.. I'm sure I wont be able to get all of them but I will be more than happy to help you out and everyone else who could use the info. I've been there, it can get mentally exhausting. Take care. I hope you have a nice day today. Sincerely, Karina

That just seems ridiculous. If you go to a pain clinic, you are hooked because the DEA says you have to go back each month to get your meds.
