Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 179)

Updated

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!

Hi my name is Sean. I'm thirty-two but have the body of an eighty yr old. Seriously. Back, neck, two hip replacements, implant dentures, sciatica, nerve damage... Anyway, so I'm looking for a Dr. Who doesn't mind keeping me on my opana, dilaudid, and xanax. I've been on these meds for seven years now. I just moved to the area and current Dr was ok with it until getting scared and telling me I'm too young... If you would let me know I'd really appreciate it. Thanks {edited for privacy}

I wish you luck. The new opiod law states by graph, that the age group 18-26 had double national average for opiod abuse but from ages 26 and up was lower then national average.I am well past my 60's been on moat everything since age 45.I had all my Percoet taken away, decreased my Methadone from 100 mg daily.now 70 mg,so had over 200 tabs totalctaken away.I would call to see if narcotics is an issue for him.Specialists have a bit more leeway since most are Anesthesiologists also....

Sorry Guys,

Haven't been on, changed Internet services, canceled my Internet with my phone company and they shut it all off. Oops! I did actually find another pain management program without much issue. It's surprising since this thread has started how much easier it is to find folks. Hate to say it but I think the big shake up removed many of the drug seekers and folks r open to treating true pain patients AND they r taking Medicaid patients.

Mike, I do believe the amounts u quoted were right. It's supposed to b less than 200 my total per day, however, they do make exceptions. If they attempted to wean or have been on a dose without increases, it seems they grandfathered some in. Don't quote me on how they justify the over 200 my as the source for this isn't from a health professional but I will research it as I have wondered the same thing. Some doc's r very strict especially with long acting meds and some aren't but the ones I've seen with higher long acting also have less breakthrough meds. And I will ask. I'll probably take me a week to get an accurate answer.

Wendy, How r things going? I wanted to mention that recently there was additional funds released from the government for utility bills. It is in addition and not related to LEAP. Contact your local food bank or call Secor and ask about it. A general fyi, I'm finally back to work and hopefully will do ok. Still don't have my teeth yet, the implants, the bone hasn't healed enough yet. The infection in my mouth was so bad that it eroded the bone on both sides of my nose. No wonder I've felt so crappy. I have one more minor surgery to put the pegs in and then I'll have my teeth. I have falsies for now, no, tassels not included, haha so I can't eat with them, still on liquids and probably xmas before I get to eat real food. I can't tell u guys how much better I feel, imagine how I'll feel once I can have good nutrition!

Hopefully I'm just back to my regular pain now and I promise I won't b cranky. The doc had a real issue with my pain management post op. My surgery was 4 hours and he felt I was under medicated and I was refused a refill. He was furious but no issues now. I'm happy and found a bunch of new resources and ones that take medicaid. I hope all is well!

Hello, I recently got into a head on car crash, I was going around 50 mph and a simi hit a car infront of him and they both came in to the opposite lane of traffic where I happened to be coming, I shattered my knee cap and broke my arm, it's only been 9 weeks now and started phy therapy two weeks ago but they're lowering my pain meds almost cut and half but my knee hurts even more know since I've started to work it, I need a doctor that understands stands I don't need less right now. In order to do my exercises, to be able to get up and start being able to walk around I can't be getting less, i think it sounds like your doc might be a good one, could you tell me which particle you go to

David and Joy,
Many have ended up at Colorado Pain Relief, they r up in Arvada. They do require a doc's referral and recent mri or doc notes before they schedule. It's typically $200 the first time and $180 after that, I honestly don't know what insurances if any they take. They have a doc who does suboxone and a very good pa. Amanda basically runs the place, so I'd suggest u speak to her to schedule. Let me know if u need more help, I'm not sure where everyone is!

Some people were talking about CPR like it was a facility to go to. I'm still fighting my pcp. He has completely taken me off of any pain meds. I have severe reactions tramadol and out of frustration, I asked him for a prescription of that. Well......as I say I'm allerigic, I get tremors, seizure like activity, and my jaw clamps down sometimes biting my tongue. He then calls in an extended release tablet for me to take. Yesterday I sent him a detailed text message telling him that after two celiac plexus block injections (that failed) they want to implant three wires with a "tens" type of unit into my back to alleviate my pain. I am scheduled to get a test one done, it gets placed in on a Monday and taken out on a Thursday. This will happen in December, if this is successful, then it won't be until after the first of the year when I will get the permanent one placed in, therefore starting my deductable all over again. Anyway in the mean time, I am in pain. I emailed my dr. to put me back onto my MS Contin until I can get this whole process done. Today is the end of day two since I emailed him demanding this. I told him like it was and that I felt I was being treated unfairly and cruel. I am really debating on switching pcp's just to have a dr with compassion and have an appt scheduled Nov 13th with one. Am I crazy for doing this? I just feel like they give me SEVERAL anti-depressants saying this will help with the pain. I just need something to help me now. Thank you for anyone who is willing to give me some input.

Anyone know of a pain clinic that takes Medicaid in the Denver Metro area. (And I can be flexible on driving distance). I am self employed dur to the constraints of my chronic pain. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!! Oh I did find one (Golden Pain Clinic) and I got the next available appt MARCH 20 2016. help!!!

Buck Tuff, I lost my dog to cancer in February, but he was given 3 weeks to live and with the treatment we got for him he lived 8 months longer. You can write me back if you are interested in the cancer treatment information.

Lucy I've missed you girl. I did apply for leap ty ..My biggest issue is back rent I owe with fees 1200.00. I have till December 1st to have it all caught up. I can't I get 733.00 monthly and without tools/truck Tom can't work. That guy really screwed us. Lucy all docs are being given a certain time limit to get their pain clients to pain management. Medicaid told me when I called today Dea is making us go to cash clinics. They think this will cut out druggies if people have to pay out of pocket.

Fascinating. I took 60 mg morphine sulfate and max of 20-30 mg hydrocodone daily yet I can't get my family practitioner or physiatrist to write for more than 4 10-325 (10mg) hydrocodone-(325mg) acetaminophen daily (Vicodin is 5-325 hydrocodone-acetaminophen). The script is for 1 every 4-6 hours. It isn't enough. I set a timer without an audible alarm as "5 hours since meds" and there are times I'm crushed to see that it's still 1 h, 45 minutes until 5 hours and often take one at 55 minutes before 5 hrs is up- meaning I made it 4 hours and 5 minutes before I need more. I rarely get to look at the timer and see all 5 hours have passed. I can't take NSAIDs due to Celebex topping me out but adding a small 100-200 mg dose can sometimes help and is less risky than edging into high acetaminophen dosing (for anyone).

I'll see a neurosurgeon in about 2 weeks- University Hospital would still be 6+ weeks out- and I'm hoping to move fast so I don't restart my deductible with a January fiscal year.

Still- I haven't seen any names of physicians to try, other than Colorado Pain Management. University Hospital has only interventional procedures, no medication management. There are no Pain practices on my insurance closer than Loveland- maybe a primary provider, spine specialist, orthopedic surgeon...? I need names here, please!

Wendy..I am sorry you are going thru all of this. Last I heard Tom was hired by a great company...what happened??? I wish I could help you but atm I have literally 5 cents to my name. I cannot believe Medicaid wants us to go to cash clinics. Do they not realize we are on Medicaid FOR A F'N REASON?!?! I was refereed to a great doctor in Thornton but his initial visit is $400. Now Im trying to figure out how to make that money in 2 days. He goes on vacation Wed and will be gone when my refills are due. As you know, I can't stand the thought of living w/o patches. Just take me now Lord! Anyway, I'm sure my issues pale in comparison to yours. I do not mean to be insensitive but I believe you will work it out Wendy. You always do. I believe in you!
