Doctors Willing To Prescribe Heavy Pain Medication In Colorado (Page 11)

I have a serious problem. My dr. had two patients start dr. shopping and has decided it is too big of a pain in his butt to continue prescribing, even though I have gotten MRIs and Xrays to prove my problems. I have over a half a dozen herniated discs in my low back, along with degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, scoliosis and arthritis in my facet joints. I am currently on5 30mg oxycodone a day for breakthrough and 60mg of methadone for my long lasting meds. I REALLY need a doctor in the Denver, CO area who will not judge me because of my age, thinking I'm just some drug seeker as I TRULY need my meds to function. I am even being placed on disability until I can get my back healed because if something doesn't change I will be in big time pain for the rest of my life. If ANYONE knows of a good doctor that prescribes strong meds willingly in the Denver area please let me know. I am in desperate need of help as I am going to be SCREWED if I cannot find a good doctor. SOMEONE please help me with a doctor!!!!!
Re: FOLLOWING THE RULES (# 5308)
What did you mean by dress office? And doctors aren't always right. And if someone's on here they are probably really hurting and speaking like that is not helpful. Additionally, if you're from out of state most doctors will not prescribe what your previous doc did and will prescribe almost anything to not prescribe narcotics now. Which trying all these crazy drugs instead of a a couple vicodin everyday can be much worse.
@KATIE
FIRST OF ALL. ..THE DR'S READ THIS THREAD AND I CAN HONESTLY TELL YOU THAT NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, TIE GOING TO PAY MONTHLY AND SECOND THE DR'S WILL TRY WHAT THEY FEEL IS RIGHT FOR YOU. IF YOU GO ANYWHERE AND MAKE THE DEMANDS THAT YOU'RE MAKING HERE, YOU'LL GET LAUGHED ALL THE WAY IT OF THE DRESS OFFICE AND THEN YOU'LL GET FIRED WHICH WILL GO ON YOUR RECORD AND THEN NO ONE WILL SEE YOU OR PRESCRIBE ANYTHING TO YOU. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU GET OFF THINKING THAT YOU'RE ABOVE ANY OTHER REAL PAIN PATIENT BUT COLORADO DR'S WON'T HAVE IT. GOD LUCK ON YOUR SEARCH. ..LOL..BUT I DON'T THINK YOU'LL FIND WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR. I HAVE A GREAT DR AND I DO ADD THEY SAY. I DON'T DO ANYTHING THAT I'M NOT SUPPOSED TO DO AND THEY HAVE ALL MY RECORDS AND THEY. ..THE DR'S. ...KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR ME....LET US KNOW HOW IT GOES FOR YOU
I posted just below you... I do want help. I'm trying. I hurt. Have some sympathy.
Primary care docs don't like to handle pain patients in Colorado anymore unless you have been with them a long long time! Haven't found a dr that doesn't require monthly visits even if you are on really low doses, I have been lowering mine and still need monthly visits, expect to drive, I drive 150 each way, if you have a dr who did prescribe, why not see if you can travel back to that dr every quarter or so?
No insurance in this day and age is unfortunately a flag, all dr's here look at yr refills and state tracks it very vey closely even if all meds are cash pay.
Dr Lincoln is wonderful, has middle age to seniors, also med marijuana, his contact info in thread. He is $175 a month cash, random ua but not a burden just a couple times , I figure that is the price of a cup of coffee, be open to dr's suggestions, tell them what you take why, what u have tried, listen to their thoughts, don't "self prescribe" that being said, Dr Lincoln will keep you on what works but he does follow limits, no more than 300 mg a day etc, if you are over that, he will refer you.
I hate to pay cash as well, new to m, but if it always me to work a little, have quality of life etc, it's worth it, also dr bills are deductions from income for govt programs so the $175 spent on Medicaid every month may be offset by a larger housing allowance, food stamps, social security etc, also may be tax deductible, hope this helps! One gentleman did list a PCP that took insurance but he may have a military, govt background.
Just curious why no military docs? You don't have to answer but that might help us help u out.
I apologize if this sounds rude but entering a forum with a label about finding doctors who prescribe HIGH LEVELS of oxycodone and asking for a doctor, typically means that finding a doctor to treat your condition and provide an appropriate level of medication is not what you're looking for. The guy who MADE this thread is dead from overdosing just so you know. You can go to almost ANY primary care physician if you have all of the proper documentation and no history of drug abuse or early refills, and they will take care of you til you find a pain doctor.
Read the thread there's a coupe clinics. But anyone with chronic pain and opiate dependency are slowly all being switched to suboxone.
Read this whole chain. And pay pay pay! Find a pain clinic or even a specific doc, not PCP, and call first and ensure that this doctor will prescribe narcotics for patients that need. They are hard to get here. I would try Dr. Bates in Loveland- he's a hard ass but if you have real problems that call for narcotics he may give a little Norco. But that's probably as good as he'll help. I'm going on suboxone.
I am new to Colorado and I am looking for a new primary care doctor for myself and my husband in the Denver metro area. I am willing to drive up to 20 miles from Westminster to have a great doctor. I am on two medications and so is my husband. We have been on these medications for over 5 years, so we know what works for us. We need a doctor that does not mind prescribing what we need and does not make us pay for visits every single month. We do not have any type of insurance, so everything would be self-pay. That being said, we cannot afford to pay for visits once a month, nor can we afford to pay for drug panels, blood work, labs, etc. We have all the necessary paperwork for any doctors to validate our conditions without a question. We have spent a month already going around to doctors with no hope. We cannot see another doctor that has military training or one that works in a hospital. We have had success in another state with doctors that have their own small practice. They let us come in every 2 or 3 months and never ask for labs or blood work after the first visit, of course.
This is a desperate plea for help from someone in the community that knows a great doctor who is very experienced and does not talk down to patients. It’s not affordable to bounce around to different doctors and pay for all these initial visits and end up wasting money like this. I am tired of playing games and being harassed about the medications we need. Without these medications, we will both go through severe withdrawal, be in the hospital and possibly even go into cardiac arrest. We cannot just stop taking these medications all of a sudden. Again, I need a doctor urgently! I have to find one within 2 weeks since our medications will run out. Please help us find a new doctor around Denver. If you are just going to criticize, be judgmental or be rude in any way, DO NOT WASTE MY TIME!
I am on morphine and oxycodone and I left Colorado to go visit family in Texas. I return to find out my Dr is on administrative leave and I can't get any of my meds filled. Now I need to find a Dr soon. I live in North Eastern (Greeley) Colorado. Can anyone help?
Contact your health insurance & explain your problem. Or contact the state medical center.
You are the man Joey!! Well put! These people don't see how manipulative some are f them are being. They are an expert in everything!
Not against the law but against medical practice guidelines to prescribe any diazepam type drugs with opiates due to increasing risk for respiratory distress and hence death; usually only as inpatient and then rarely, if it ends in Zepam it is risky. If Hong is supposed to help you for 30 days after d/c then it would be fine. I really think we need to start weaning off or down. After suffering from a fracture over the last two weeks, it did remind me what acute pain is like. Not that I am dismissing anyone's pain levels but I think it is going to become very restrictive with legal action against drug companies, etc!
I went to the first Dr in years that denied my meds...a Medicare medicaid Dr. I was paying 175.oo to see a Dr.
What a difference, between Hong and Andy Fine, my god have mercy on me, his nurse td me he usually helps u for 2 months, that's it. So I retur8on my 2nd visit far from home, and he denied any help but looked up my pdmp that by law Hong is supposed to help me for 30 days, . It's not true, dr fyne lied saying it we against law to rx my clonazepam with ur er morphine.
I saw Dr Kornfeld from OCT OF 14 THROUGH April of 2015, when I found a job with insurance that didn't cover his clinic.
I am mow at another great family practice clinic that handles very specific pain patients. They have kept me because of my record. My tests are always where They are supposed to be, I ask questions regarding getting past all this and getting better. They trust me, and I trust them. I am one of 4 pain management patients....... all of us are in the airline life!! 2 rampers, and 2 mechanics!!
Tae rae,
He's expensive but I will sacrifice whatever is necessary cuz the bottom line is I have medicaid and there is no one that takes it. And without him I would end up like my sister and go quietly into that good night. Because of him I have my first real job in years. I will pray for you and all of you. This site saved my life.

Lemme know how it goes.
Is there any doctors in Boulder or even Thornton norhglen that will give feytnal and120 30 mg er what are people to do I've been on this for many years if they want to take it away they need to replace it with something I was told I would die if I cold turkey stop????
Jetmech what year did you go to Lowry? Because things are different than they were like in 2013.
Does anyone know about Dr Kyle Buss, I'm going to look him up
Lucy I didn't get to try D yet, I don't have my funds together, I was gonna go to Fyne in Littleton, I've seen him before, i know his weird ways, but if he will up while I get the down payment for Dr. D, if he'll write my ER med and my clonazepam.
Jetmech, I know right where that's at, thank you. I have no choice right now but to see what help I can get through my Medicare
Jane Doe, I too like the staff too, I also grew very comfortable with Lincoln, being I've been his patient donve 2012, I thought it would really mean something when I was short 65.00.
My worst nightmare is to end up walking up at 5 am in the Methadone line, but methadone clinics I heard are anti marijuana and anti benzodiazepine, but I think the person told me a lie about that...
