I have been suffering from a failed patella replacement for 12 years. Tramadol sometimes helps, but the risks for stroke are too high. I was being treated by a doctor in RI but he lost his license. Is there anyone in Boston area who can prescribe vicodin 10/325 legally?
Thanks for the info. I can't see him for 2 months.... is his nurse practitioner just as good?
Forget Boston.
go to knightsville medical group.
make appt with Dr. Frank Maggicamo, DO.
HE IS IN CRANSTON RI.
LOOK HIM UP
Also, all physicians can prescribe Vicodin legally. They need not be a pain specialist.
Sorry, * rheumatologist.
I'm in my third year of med school and my father is actually a rhematologist. He confirmed there is no known increase in stroke risk when taking tramadol. Many docs, especially surgeons are misinformed about this drug. As far as Vicodin, it's more addictive (and more dangerous due to the acetaminophen) than tramadol, so tramadol would probably be safer. It doesn't have the added element of Tylenol, which can cause liver damage. If taken correctly, tramadol produces the least side effects of any pain killer.
Odd. There are no studies showing tramadol increasing chances of stroke. Maybe he meant seizures? That's the only thing tramadol is known to elevate the risk of.
I was told by a prominent sports medicine surgeon he won't prescribe Ultram for that reason. And NSAIDS are out, as my first orthopedic surgeon overprescribed Advil and Alieve, so I know have 4 holes in my stomach. I know what works for me and just want to find a doctor to monitor my progress.
Actually the risk of stroke by taking tramadol is very low, and taken with ibuprofen can actually LOWER the risk of stroke. Where did you hear that it increases your risk of stroke?
Risk for stroke? That's not an elevated risk with tramadol; no more than any other pain medication...
Well, any doctor can prescribe it legally. The main issues are just why its being prescribed, how much, for how long and etc.
Learn more Vicodin details here.
With the new regulations and issues on the east coast regarding doctors prescribing improperly and over prescribing, your best bet is going to be with a pain management specialist.
Do you have a general practitioner that you see regularly who may be able to refer you somewhere?
