You may want to try Ketamine infusions for your pain.

I relocated to Huntsville AL from Oregon. I have all my records and prescription monitoring record. My records are stellar. Still Oregon doctors said seven days was plenty of time to get into a pain clinic - not true. Alabama drs say I should just wait. They all know my seven days are over on Saturday and I am heading for Fentanyl withdrawals. Is there an ER near Huntsville that will care? No other MD does... please.

Have you tried getting a appointment with Tennessee Valley Pain. I also saw on this thread someone recommend Phoenix Emergency Care. If you look on their website it states they treat people for pain. Have you every tried Ketamine infusion treatments for pain?

Re: Heyyoo (# 20) Expand Referenced Message

I was forced to go to five pain clinics this year and they are so discriminatory and do not do their research. They are inconsistent and they each said something different. I have all their info documented. Something has to break. And some people do need these meds to SURVIVE. I believe being forced to be bedridden for over five years when you have a child is unethical and not life. I want to live and work to support my son and put him through college. Unfortunately, I have to take opiates. I tried everything to avoid taking any pill only to find in the end that the opiates were last resort. I have already done and tried everything to the point of bankruptcy and disability separated from my state job. Now with the CDC and their false reports, I'm being forced to repeat the process? No!!! Been there, done that. The CDC and my Governor are killing me. I just want to go back to work and I need my pain med at a therapeutic dose. I would never take the pain meds and rot on disability unless I was forced to which I have been and I am going to put a stop to it. I have already experienced hell. I cannot do it again! I cannot afford to live in disability. I do not qualify to rent an apartment because I do not make three times the rent. I do not qualify for a car loan. I just want to go back to work. I can make bank. I was well on my way before until 2005 due to a car wreck. The injury sustained from the car wreck was exacerbated by 1000 times from an injury I sustained bowling in April of 2007. Still, undiagnosed. Ten years and not one medical provider can give me a diagnosis. I have not picked up a bowling ball since 2007 nor have I worked or played a sport. I took my son on a walk through our neighborhood (stuck living at my mom's for 5 years) and we saw a basketball under a hoop. I tried to make the ball into the hoop. I couldn't even throw the ball to the net. I am weak and have done physical therapy at four different offices about 8 visits each. They all re-injured me while on pain meds. Now, this last pain clinic I went to wants me to do physical therapy for the 5th time WITHOUT pain meds when I couldn't do it on a high dose of pain meds. This is all OUTRAGEOUS to me. And EVERYONE thinks the guidelines are LAWS when they are not. If 1 doctor properly documents my chronic acute pain their butt is covered. I want to go back to school (medical school) and I would take over pain patients and weed out the abusers.

Although a 4 yr old thread, thought I'd try....Were you ever able to find another doc & if so, are you still with them? I was in same predicament as you in '13 (prob same doc), then found another doc, then they closed practice. Have been searching months for someone else.

It's clear. The Government cares more about addicts than the real legitimate pain patients. Addicts get all the CII drugs they want from high doses of methadone at a done clinic or Suboxone that Addiction doctors can give 30 day Rx's for. Meanwhile, the documented, legitimate pain patients get nothing for their real pain. See something wrong here? Alabama even has a shortage of these of Addiction, so called Drs that give Suboxone. If you get an Rx for that drug you will be labeled an addict for the rest of your life! Plus it's not a good medicine for pain, you can't take any breakthrough med with it. It has a blocker in it. Ugh.. Alabama sure isn't a patient-friendly state. The entire country is living in lies. People see suffering! If only the President would invite some people into his house for a meeting. He'd let the addicts do it. Good luck folks. Suicides are rising. Maybe they'll get it before it's too late. I'm not hopeful!!!

Re: Pain Patients Advocate (# 192) Expand Referenced Message

What has happened to every chronic pain sufferer in the USA, recklessly over-medicated without concern for their health and long term wellbeing...by doctors who swore to "do no harm"...well you have all been irrevocably harmed by this seemingly benign, generous, caring, cure all opioid treatment for every pain known to man. Wake up citizens! This whole opioid crisis should never have happened in the first place, it couldnt happen anywhere else on the planet because we have sensible laws and safeguards that sheild us from the darker side of the capitalist, profit-driven, free market economy we all hold so dear. When a humanitarian service is governed by the almighty dollar instead of best practice, beneficience, and equality of access, profit comes first and real people are a secondary concern every single time. The drug companies and the doctors didnt do all of you any favours, giving you a taste of something exquisite that could never realistically carry on unchecked and unregulated. Now we have a truly catastrophic situation on our hands, millions of people left stranded and saddlled with a life long addiction to contemd with and no hope in sight. This will take several generations to recover from, and we still have no idea what the true human toll is going to be. It will get a whole lot worse before it gets better as the now drug dependent populace struggle to adjust to a miserable new reality after the great national opioid orgy. You would all have been better off if it hadnt happened at all, and you would never have known what you were missing out on. Now you have tasted the euphoria, the bliss, the life changing power of opium. Few experiences in life can ever compare to this bio-chemical nirvana state of being, and it will be impossible to forget.

Poster #214 has never been severely injured or had a bad enough disease to experience what Chronic Pain really is. Therefore should not advise nor judge another. Each person should be treated humanely and properly according to their health or pain condition. Opioids are not evil. They are a Godsend for some patients as they're the only thing left to allow any kind of life. Forcing human life to be bedridden while modern day medicines are available is not acceptable and it's downright EVIL. Most all patients who require opioids have tried every single alternative before hopping on the Opioid bandwagon. Nobody sets out in life to decide to have pain everyday that's so severe they can't focus on anything else. That idea is just ludicrous.

I think we all agree that opioids were once given out far too freely in the past but they're not anymore. In fact, many people are suffering now and committing suicide because of the lack of pain care. The only people who should be getting treatment from these medications are patients with well-documented conditions stating everything else has been tried and failed. By cutting every patient off their therapy that was successful in keeping them functional is nothing short of pure torture. The population is the largest it's ever been and there's going to be many people with all sorts of disease and conditions that I can't even pronounce who do have chronic pain. There's no cure and the NIH isn't looking for any either. So the humane choice should be to keep these people comfortable. What the hell is WRONG with that? In the old days, people grew the medications they needed, long before any FDA or DEA. The Government agencies today are trampling the human rights for legitimate pain relief. Yes, we need to try to get rid of the Illegal Drugs that are killing people but my guess is that isn't ever going to completely happen. So treating those with mental health issues/addicts with legal medicine should be appropriate and should be advocated to save their lives. On the other hand, legitimate pain patients with well documented medical records, those patients should continue to be permitted to receive their life-saving medicine as well. It's keeping them from suicide. Why can't USA be fair balanced? Fair to ALL? It's never going to be perfect. It's not a perfect world.

Right now, it's completely BIASED from the president down. I say legitimate pain doctors now need to unite and stand up for what's right medically. They need to stop being cowards and stop burying their heads in the sand. Patients have been advocating for over a decade to preserve their quality of life and protecting the good Drs. Until all these issues are fair and balanced, deaths will continue to rise at alarming rates. Wake up people. "Prohibition" to medicine is EVIL. Withholding medicines that give a patient quality of Life should be advocated for by ALL Americans who believe in the Bill of rights and the Constitution. I don't care what it is if it helps people medically, including marijuana, opioids or whatever it is. What is NOT medically helpful in any way shape or form is ALCOHOL, cigarettes among other things, not to mention automobiles and bad food choices that are killing even more people than legal pain medications but no one's talking about or outlawing those substances. Alcohol alone is actually killing more people than any other substance and it's legal. It not only harms the user but has killed other innocent people. Rant over. I wonder how many legitimate pain patients agree with all of this?

Thank you poster From Australia. You Hit The Nail on the head. You're correct! :) Glad your Country has pain care and Can see the HUGE mistakes USA is making and harming it's own people. I'll tell ya that there are Patients with sufficient funds that are looking and Willing to move out of the US. Looking to move to a modern country that treats pain properly. There's a few countries. Portugal, Costa Rica etc.. I don't see this ever becoming Balanced Again. The pain care Advocacy we have in the USA isn't large enough but those few people we have are Fighting like HELL. Fighting for some quality of life. If Americans in pain had pain bad enough to need opiate pain medicine, then they need to join the fight, or get a family member, caregiver or friend to join the forces in this Advocacy and FIGHT. Real AMERICANS have always fought and won their battles with their Government. Stop letting the bureaucrats shame you or the good doctors and take a stand for your human rights! Also, the FDA is asking for public comments before July 10. Look up FDA regulations.gov and search under Pain Management Task Force. Leave your voices! Without public advocacy and people remaining to be shamed because they have real pain is outrageous! A very sad state of social justice for a supposed Super Power Nation.
