Doctors Who Prescribe Pain Killers In Philadelphia (Page 64)

Hi,
My current doctor has decided that it would be best to stop my monthly prescription for 30mg percocets. I have chronic back pain from skiing injuries and other sports related problems. I have never abused or taken more than was suggested. I never got "high" and was always able to work and interact with clients in a positive way. Now without the medication, the pain is becoming a distraction. Does anyone know a doctor who isn't scared to prescribe common pain killers. They are produced for a reason, but recent uptake in illegal abuse has made doctors uneasy with long term prescriptions? I live in the Philadelphia area (main line) but I am familiar with the greater Philadelphia metro area. Thank you and kind regards.
Im trying again to see if this one can be posted without being reviewed. IM gonna give u my email but not in the typical form, maybe that will work. Its xxxxxx. Try it that way.
Douglas, I posted a reply to you with my email address bc I have no problem giving you the info but I didnt want to put the drs name in here in case he reads these by chance....when I submitted my reply it said it would have to be reviewed before being posted. Try sending one back to me with your email. Bc Thats the only reason I can think of as to why they would have to review it before posting.
Hey, send me an email, I dont wanna throw his name on a public forum just in case he happens to read these lol. In fact if anyone wants to email me for my old Dr who did write, then feel free. He will write but if he gets his balls twisted or you dont comply with his every demand he will totally cut you off and wash his hands of you, leaving you to suffer horrible withdrawl. I passed every random drug test and did comply. The test he gives will even show if u snuck in a vicodin instead of a percocet...it will tell the amount of oxycodone in your system as well as the acetomenophin (sp?) in your system. Its a very advanced form of a drug test. But I will gladly give you his name and info, email me.
who was your dr, i have 4 brain anuerysms, a brain coil and two briain stents and suffer from completely debilitating headaches, coming fromny, i need to find a dr who prescribes pain meds for pain such as oxycodone so i can function.
My Dr. did the same. I am now 30 years old but at 20 I was in a near death car accident and have worked at UPS for 10 years which in itself is very physical. I have spinal cord damage, degenerative disc disease, 6 herniated and 2 bulging in my neck, a bunch more in the lumbar region and sciatica. For 7 years I refused my Drs narcotic scripts. Finally I had to give in. Every time I went to see him he would increase me, without my asking. I was getting 60 80mg oxycontin (the op version) and 150 percocet 10/325. I voluntarily took myself off of the oxycontin. He had even suggested morphine, fentynal etc. I always declined. Back in late Oct of 2011, I informed him that I felt my tolerance to the 10/325s was increasing. His solution was to send me to a suboxone dr. Yet I never abused my meds and was always honest. It was he who told me in exact words "you're going to be on narcotic pain relievers for life, no Ifs ands or buts about it. Now I had to quit my job bc I could no longer endure the physical strain and have no ins, I've resorted to having to get them off the street which is costing a fortune and killing my self esteem. I'm on a mission to find a compassionate dr and if I do I will definitely inform you guys and if anyone else does, please post!!

Wondering if you found any information on a good doctor in Philadelphia?
I totally understand your situation. Sorry I have no answers except to find a pain management dr. Be sure and take your med bottle with you. Im relocating from Va to Tx and having a very difficult time finding a dr for my blood pressure not to mention my pain meds. which ive been taking for 5 yrs due to chronic pain..foot , neck, back and shoulders..im taking 30mg of morphine twice daily (extended release) and lortab 3 times a day for breakthrough pain. My insurance hasnt kicked in yet..i went to a dr and was told they didnt take people with no insurance...i came home and called a few other drs and seems none here take ppl w.o insurance..i thought cash talked..hehe lord what a mess here in Orange TxI never have nor will i ever abuse my meds. Im totally confused as to why drs here dont take uninsured people..i see now why ppl may buy meds off the streets tho it isnt something for me..good luck to you
I think you may be confusing medication names and if we straighten that out, it may get you more responses.
Percocet contains Acetaminophen and Oxycodone and there is no tablet of it available on the market that contains 30mgs of either one. It is only available with a maximum of 10mgs of the Oxycodone and 650mgs of the Acetaminophen.
If you were on a 30mg tablet, it was more than likely just Oxycodone, by itself, but in that case, was it the time released Oxycontin or the regular release Roxicodone?
And, it is not only the potential abuse factor that makes doctors leery of prescribing narcotic medications. Any time they right a prescription for a controlled substance, it has to be reported to the government. If, for some reason, the government feels that they did not write it for a valid reason, they face serious sanctions, which can include very large fines and they could even lose their license to practice medicine.

Please post back with more information and I am sure someone will be able to help.
You also may want to look into finding a regular pain management doctor or clinic in your area.
