Doctors Who Prescribe Pain Killers In Philadelphia (Page 61)
UpdatedHi,
My current doctor has decided that it would be best to stop my monthly prescription for 30mg percocets. I have chronic back pain from skiing injuries and other sports related problems. I have never abused or taken more than was suggested. I never got "high" and was always able to work and interact with clients in a positive way. Now without the medication, the pain is becoming a distraction. Does anyone know a doctor who isn't scared to prescribe common pain killers. They are produced for a reason, but recent uptake in illegal abuse has made doctors uneasy with long term prescriptions? I live in the Philadelphia area (main line) but I am familiar with the greater Philadelphia metro area. Thank you and kind regards.
I wish I could read between the lines lol. I am in such desperate need of pain relief. I'm at the end of my rope. 1 10mg oxycodone every 12 hours just is not helping. Herniated dics, neck and lower back, subluxation of spinal vertebra, tear in disc, nerve root damage, spinal stenosis, etc and the list goes on. Any info is appreciated.
Hi Painfacegurl,
I don't know how to email or contact anyone on here. I am not a drug seeker, just a 57 year old grandma who has herniated discs C2, C3, L2, L3, L4, L5, S1 nerve root compression, annular year in disc, spinal stenosis, and the list goes on. Can you provide me with info?
Thank you
Hi Roman,
I live near you, and I am looking for a primary who will prescribe pain meds until I see pain management on July 26th. Can you provide me with name of doc? I have multiple herniated discs, subluxation of spinal vertebra, annular tear in disc, spinal stenosis, etc, etc.
Thank-you.
Hello,
Do you happen to know who the doctor is on Cottman Ave?
Thank you
I was wondering if you ever considered botox injections for your migraines. I have a rare neurological disease and wanted to try botox in my leg muscles which is one thing that may help with the spasticity. I went to dr lee dresser at st francis hospital in wilmington, delaware, and he said he mostly goves botox for migraine headaches. I dont have migraines and never heard of it but i thought i would mention it
I don't think you're going to find a primary to prescribe pain meds. I know in Delaware they don't. And i dont know who your pain mgmt dr is but 2 10 mg oxy for all your issues is crazy. Thats like taking tylenol after you had major surgery
Hi grandma, did u try holy Redeemer independence pm? The Drs need proof of everything, drug panels, etc. They don't take my insurance. I am looking as well since I have serious problems with my health, disc problems, spinal stenosis and blood clots. I can't get inj's. due to blood clots. I also have two ripped meniscus, bulging discs and sciatica. Please if someone can help me find a Medicaid Dr that will help me walk and actually help me please tell me. I need to find a Dr ASAP. But grandma, call this place...
If you have all your paperwork showing what your event doc gave you, try Greater Philadelphia Health Action on 1408 S. Broad Street. Dr Daria Pelligrino is great. A little snobbish at first but really tries to help as long as you follow her guidelines. You will need to find a pain mgmt Dr as she'll only fill rx until you do. Good Luck!
Hello. After a failed surgery at Rothman, I'd stay away from Vaccaro. I was then treated at bt Temple who was great. Dr Weaver did an L5 S1 fusion and I had rods and screws in place. I then went to a primary who told me he wanted to give me pain medicine for my S1 nerve complications. Suspect he didn't want me to see a pain specialist and now I know why.....$$$$. He had me on up to 10 30mg Oxycodone pills per day, xanax, and restoril. I told him I didn't want to be on these meds and he decides to put me on Subutex for pain control which has not worked. I already take 2,400mg Gapapentin per day with Motrin and most days its fine. I had a set back and now he no longer will prescribe pain meds. Keep in mind this doctor is in AA and I know him from there so he already knew my tendencies for re-addiction, a real catch 22. I have my medical records showing what he was prescribing me and plan to call a powerful lawyer group where the lawyers are doctors. Their site said he acted irresponsibility, he should have sent me to pain mgmt and now I tell him I am going to the VA for pain mgmt, due to a service connected injury he no longer see dollar signs and cuts me off. I then read about him on message boards and find out he is a pill writer and has many patients hooked on narcotics, suboxone, and subutex. The DEA will be getting a call so I can hopefully save other patients of his the trauma I am facing and now am looking for a pain mgmt practice in my area. Any help would be appreciated. I called the hospital that did my fusion and they can't get me seen until Feb. If you want to know the doc to stay away from, I can tell you. I am a retired Nurse and know about these kind of greedy doctors.
Dr. Vaccaro at Rothman is my doctor and I definitely would not call him out like this on this site. He is one of the most well-respected doctors in this country and you should watch what you're saying about him. Just because your surgery didn't work doesn't mean it's his fault honey. A lot of these surgeries don't work and it's not the surgeons fault. Just please watch what you say regarding this surgeon. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and everyone I ever come across and have done so for the past 15 years. I had two laminectomies and a spinal fusion with dr. Vaccaro and even though my spinal fusion was not the grand success I had hoped it would be the surgery itself was done skillfully and masterfully and I was told what the possible outcome would be but that was my decision to have it and my decision alone. Everything dr. Vaccaro told me about the side effects and what could happen was known up front and it was my decision to go forward with this knowing all the problems I had before I had the surgery. Please do not go around blaming the surgeon because the surgery did not work as he is the most well skilled and knowledgeable neurosurgeon / orthopedic surgeon in this country. The amount of medication you were taking is simply outrageous and no one should have been on that much Gabapentin and anywhere near the amount of medication you were on should have been flagged by the DEA. I hope you find someone who can prescribe you the right amount of medication and also the right medication that you should be on according to your pain as everyone in here is trying desperately to find someone who can prescribe them the meds that they need including myself. Good luck in your journey.
Terrible doctor that caused perminent damage. He is not Good and the surgons at the hospital that tried to fix his mistake also concurred that the job he did was shoddy.
I so highly doubt that. Dr. Vacarro is WORLD RENOWNED. HE COULDN'T DO SHODDY WORK IF HE TRIED. GOOGLE HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS. HE HAS MADE PARALYZED PEOPLE WALK AGAIN!!!! No reputable doctor would DARE speak against him....
I chose him based on his reputation. He permanently injured me and didn't even have to decency to speak with me post op. Other neurosurgeons we're in awe that he left me in that condition. The truth is the truth. Stay away from the corporate assemply line and especially him.
Could you please give me the name of the doctor that you were talking about for pain medications? I'm relocating from Virginia to Pennsylvania and really need some help

I am writing this for my son. He has had a neck/spinal surgery back in march. In april he had to go back and get a second surgery because the first one did not work, which put him in so much pain he was in tears. He was given 2 different pain meds for a couple of months and then was taken off (cold turkey). He was told to find a pain management and still to this day no one will HELP him. Even his PCP will not help him. He is going out of his mind with this pain, where I feel like I have to 302 him. HE NEEDS MAJOR HELP FROM SOMEONE WHO IS LEGIT!!
