Doctor Won't Prescribe Any Narcotics And I Have Severe Lumbar Pain With An Mri To Prove It...

My primary dr refuses to prescribe any pain medication at all for me, even though I have 2 ruptured discs, and my L5-S1 is completely gone so it's bone on bone and I have the MRI to prove it. He sent me to a pain management doctor, whose policy is to refer back to the primary for any narcotics...the Professional Run-around...
I was on Tramadol from January 2014 to May. It wasn't the best, but made it so I could function. I had a seizure from it the first week of May, and have been without any medication ever since. Both doctors know this, and won't do anything. I have been waiting since May for authorization from the insurance for facet injections.
This is ridiculous that I have been in so much pain that I sleep less than an hour a night, have had to go on a medical leave from my job since I can't walk, and there are times that I can't do anything except crawl from the bed to the bathroom to pee.
Does anyone know of a doctor in MA who will help me? I don't want the strongest thing I can get, just something that will make my life worth living. I've honestly considered pulling the gun out a couple times it's been so bad...PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Have had 2 back & 2 neck surgeries for herniated discs. Also have Degenerated Disc Disease with bone spurs & much narrowing of the spinal cord area. I have plate & screws in low back. Ive had a total of 4 discs removed so far. I am 62 yrs old. Fusions done for all 4. The remaining discs are in awful shape. Ive learned 2 cope with the back pain, but the neck pain is UNBEARABLE! HORRIBLE pain in neck, upper back area between shoulder blades, & EXCRUCIATING headaches! Im sure more surgery is in the cards but then my entire neck will be fused & wont be able 2 turn my head at all!!! Anyone know any good Nuerosurgeons & Pain Management doctors in the Des Moines, IoUo vacinity? PLZ HELP!
Hello, Brandon! How are you?
If you are having suicidal thoughts, please inform your doctor. You need help with your mental state, as well as your pain. They both tend to contribute to the other, creating a vicious cycle.
As to your PCP, he can not prescribe narcotics for you. Due to the new regulations that were put in place last year, if you require such mediations on a long-term ongoing basis, you'll need to see a pain management specialist. That leads me to suspect that the one you saw just doesn't want to prescribe them.
Can anyone suggest another PM specialist in that area that may help?
