Doctor Not Helping Taper Down Methadone

I have pain and addiction to opiates. After being on 90 mg of methadone for about 5 years (and suboxone before that), the doctor i was seeing left the practice for better pay. I ended up with a nurse who decided I no longer needed the methadone and she sent me to a pain clinic to be taken off if. The new doctor seems to think 10 mg a week is safe to drop me. I'm down to 25 mg and feel like hell. Everyone says he's going too fast but no one will help either take me off them safely or talk to him. I need help and mm on the edge of going pack to other means for pain meds.

I live in Burlington and I have to drive every Tuesday to a pain clinic who refuses to treat me for my pain and addition he only wants me off the Methadone he does not care about the effects it is having on me this doctor has no plans except to get me off the medication he does not listen to me I even told him I could not take how fast he has dropped me and have gone back to using this doctor just says here now your to do instead od 2 tens (methadone) in the a,m to do a 10 and a 5 at night come back next week now I'm down to 2 10 1in the morning 1 at night im not sure how much more detailed I can get then thaat

You definitely need a new doctor because he has no idea what he is doing...that was way too fast to bring you down...I was on methadone a couple of times because it is great for pain...but going to a program and being around certain people I would not wanna sit next to (bugs jump) and living by this rediculous rules I finally left for good ...10 mg every 2weeks when you get down to 50 drop 5 every month ..when u get to 10 go down 1 mg a slow detox is much better for you.

Your doctor is nuts and on the verge of malpractice though when it comes to METHADONIANS, malpractice is non-existent. I dropped five per week and ended up in the hospital!! You do one mg a week and if that agrees with you, when you get really lower you can go to half a mg and then even a quarter. It's your life, your body and our future. Don't let these idiots push you into a fast detox because you'll fail and he doesn't give a flying f***. They operate on profit and God forbid you come in without your money! I was told to rob like I did to shoot my heroin.. Was thinking of grabbing the doctor and shoot him up for a month then throw him into the middle of a drug infested drug area in Harlem NY with no disrespect to all the law abiding good people that live there. I'm closing in on 70 and seen it all from 1970 to now.
