Can anyone provide information regarding Docosanol's use case or mechanism of action?

Docpsanol is a saturated fatty alcohol, which is also used as an antiviral agent, it's the active ingredient in the cold sore medication Abreva.

Side effects can include: dry skin, itching and redness.
