Divalproex Side Effects Depakote Generic

I was taking Depakote and topamax together. My liver quit processing this combo and my ammonia level in my blood shot up off the charts. At this point I became very confused. I actually thought I had developed Alzheimer's. I don't know if it was the combination of the two or just the Depakote. It was actually divalproex which is the generic. The MRI I had actually showed swelling in my brain. After 4 days off the meds my symptoms cleared up and recent MRI's are normal. I really feel like I was not being monitored closely enough. It is very important to have blood levels taken on this med. Otherwise don't take it . I was lucky not to have gone into a coma.
