Diphena Trop

I had reconstructive bowel surgery 4 weeks ago, the diarhea is horrible. My dr. put me on diphena trop 1 tab one time a day. the first week it seemed to work now it is not. Should I be taking it more? I saw other posts of people taking it up to 4x a day. Will this eventually help me get back to being normal? All of this is new to me, and scares me a little bit. I appreciate your feedback.

It really is impossible for someone (including doctors) to know ahead of time how any medication can affect anyone. They can only assume that it will be effective based on medical records, current health, age, diet, what the condition is, whether or not any other medications are being taken at the same time, etc. Any of these factors as well as others can affect how you respond to this drug.

In my personal opinion, I think it would be wise to adapt to different eating habits to help determine if the diarrhea can be controlled and managed by your diet.
Bananas are a really good binding food that can be eaten to help prevent cases of diarrhea. Taking extra precautions like this as well as your medication should be of help. Ultimately though, you may just have to wait it out and time will tell if the medication is as functional as your expectations for it.
