Dilaudid Shots For Pain Medication (Top voted first)

I told the neurologist that I was allergic to morphine and she said these two shots will help you we don't allow you to take any more products here but only we can give you a shot and I can't prescribe anything. She gave me two shots of Dilaudid. I must have not been very potent because I'm still in pain. If Dilaudid is a derivative of morphine then how can she give it to me if she knows that I'm allergic to morphine?

Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, it is related to Morphine, but not the same, so it can be tried by people that are allergic to Morphine, or other opiates.

The FDA warns that it carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.

As to the pain, the shot is only effective for a few hours, it is not a long-term remedy.

Have you considered trying a pain management specialist?
