Dilaudid Pain Pump With Oral Gabapentin

I have a pain pump implanted about 1 1/2 months ago. Pain dr. is increasing Dilaudid 1mg/ml every two weeks. I am also taking Gabapentin 300 mg 2 times a day, 2 capsules each time. Are there side effects from taking the Dilaudid through pain pump and orally Gabapentin? I have had swelling in my feet, ankles and legs since the pain pump was implanted.

Is your doctor aware of this swelling?

The FDA does warn that you should check with your doctor, if that occurs, as you may need to try a different medication. Other side effects of Dilaudid may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. This medication also carries the risk of being habit forming.

Gabapentin can also cause edema as a side effects, so it may also be contributing.
