Dilaudid And Subutex (Page 5)
UpdatedI had a knee surgery yesterday. I have been using subutex to help me taper narcotics. I stopped the subutex 2 weeks before surgery. My doctor prescribed both percocet and oxycontin. I am getting no pain relief. The iv Dilaudid worked in the hospital. Has anyone taken Dilaudid by pill at home?
I am a subutex patient and had emergency surgery 5 days ago. I was given 4mg Dilaudid every 4 hours post surgery. It didn't provide any relief until my 3rd day taking it. I just took my last Dilaudid. When should I start back on the subutex?
I have serious injuries from skateboarding when I was young and crazy, I injured my neck and back falling down a set of like 15 stairs trying to hit a hand rail. I ended up with 5 bulging and herniated discs and a nerve encroachment which led to me being prescribed oxycontin 60 tabs 40mg, roxicodone 120 tabs 30mg and 1mg 2x daily of xanax. I was 18 years old and it was my first pain management visit ever in my life. Needless to say this lead to about 12 really hard long years of serous pain and torment, mostly to the people who love me!!!! I overdosed well over 11 times to the point that the doctor that usually save my life and revived me numerous times from death, told me"Lew, if I see you in here one more time I'm either going to let you die, or give you a frontal lombodomy! I couldn't wait to get home to my stash, this is after being revived 3 times and being on life support for a week. They told my mom, my grandmother and girlfriend to say goodbye because if I did come through ("which he probably wont") I'd probably be a vegetable. I remember the worst pain in my chest when I came too from the c.p.r.! The had to keep me on diprovan (propophol) for another 4 days because I kept trying to rip all the tubes out while they were literally training my lungs to breath again on their own because they were dead. Anyways I went right home to my oxys and xanax without any remorse or care but to feel high and feel better! I guess you get the point, I was bad! Subutex helped save my life, it is a miracle and I'll stand by that forever! But really in the end, my kids is what maid me wake up and change my life style! It was more of like a matter of just growing up and learning from my mistakes! I still struggle with other substances and all the stress from a life of crime and addiction that I will overcome!!! God Willing! But it all starts with when the feeling of remaining the same becomes greater than the pain of change, we can change. It starts with a choice!!! My love and prayers go out to all of you!!!!
Don't you think a doctor would be your best option just be honest with them
Amp,
If you need to ask those ridiculous questions you're in over your head. Try taking subutex how it was prescribed instead of wasting a place that someone serious about recovery could use. FACT!!!!
I recently had abdominal surgery and was not informed that I needed to stop the subutex before my surgery. I was given Dilaudid 4mg 1-2 tablets every 4 hours post-op. The pain was excruciating and the Dilaudid didn't touch it! I took it for 5 days and resumed the subutex the 5th evening after surgery. The subutex relieved my pain more than the Dilaudid ever did. On other occasions, I have been given IV Dilaudid with great results, but it was necessary to increase the dosage significantly.
wrong you can take suboxone first then dilaudid because it's blocking it butttt if vice versa then the sibxone is so strong it'll kick dilaudid off the receptor then your sick !suoer bad choice just do suboxone bud!
I had surgery today and was given dilauded for pain once I was woke up but no more. I was prescribed suboxone before the surgery can I go back to taking my regular dosing of suboxone soon or do I have to wait?
I recently had major abdominal surgery and I was not told to stop taking my subutex before surgery. The Dr wrote me a prescription for 50 Dilaudid 4mg to take home. I was in the worst pain in my life in the recovery room after surgery because the pain meds couldn't break through. I had to take many Dilaudid daily and didn't receive much relief at all. After one week I started back on my subutex and felt WONDERFUL!!!! Wish I had started it sooner. I took the Dilaudid right up to the time I started back on the subutex and had no problems whatsoever!!! I would suggest to anyone in this situation to take high doses of Dilaudid as OxyContin simply doesn't work as well.
So, if someone takes subutex they should never have surgery again? Are you delusional? I'm on subutex and have been for a year now and guess what? I'm on my 26th day in the hospital have had 5 surgeries to save my life now and I'm still taking my subutex. When I can and the pain is bearable (meaning I can actually get out of bed and walk to the bathroom on my own) I take the subutex instead of the pain meds (dilaudid) that they offer. I Googled this to see if anyone else thought the subutex was giving more relief than the pain meds. I see now that I am not the only one that feels this way, but, of course, I also had to see this idiotic comment from a selfish user. And yes, you're still a user if your thinking this selfishly. Your comment was uneducated and selfish, people will still need surgeries whether they take subutex or not. Subutex doesn't make you invincible...
Please be very careful with Kratom.....it is great and natural but also as addicting as any other opiate. Honest!#
Go back to taking the subutex. It works much better than the others.
I was in hospital coming off 330mgs methadone they gave subutex to come off i went in on Thursday come home on Saturday 2 days. I've had couple hot flashes nothing major but asked if i should take kratom and your.right they said the withdrawal is bad and they have nothing to give you for it either. Unlike methadone ect..
haha best reponse i've read!! So many geniuses in this world!
Unfortunately, dilaudid by mouth regardless of how much you take does not work as well as administering it intravenously. It's just the fact that they are not equal at all. To give you an example, I take 16 mg orally every four hours but in the hospital 3 mg is an equivalent dose. I am in a situation that I must have both hips replaced and my doctors have told me that I am in for quite a problem due to the amount of medication that I'm on. They said that the hospital will not give me an equivalent amount of medication so you can expect to be in unbearable pain. This is quite frightening in that in American medicine you are being treated in such a way that you're more worried about being sued or wondering which insurance company will pay and taking care of the patient. My doctor said I should see a doctor that will put me on Subutex to prepare to lower my dose. The funny part of this whole situation is that the doctor who put me on this medication in the first pace over 20 years ago is now throwing his hands up. This is absolute utter nonsense.
