Different Reasons For A Scratchy Throat

I had a scratchy throat that was negative for strep. Nothing came up on the x-ray so I'm at a loss as to why it hurts to swallow. Any thoughts?

Are you taking any medications at the moment? If so, it could be a possible side effect...

Also, smoking, eating a lot of dairy, dry foods and/or not being hydrated enough can cause similar symptoms as well.

I think if you're at a loss, it may be best to try and evaluate these various aspects of your life or diet to help reach a possible conclusion.

Raw honey and tea may offer some level of relief in the meantime. I hope you feel better soon!
