For many yrs I was prescribed oxymorophone 30 mg 5 pills 2 times a day with hydromorphone as break through med. in last two yrs since my PM dr was closed by uncontrolled DEA I’ve not been able to get my medical records proving a world of alternatives I tried. I’m now only offered all same non opioid alternatives that failed me. I’d rather die than go through my last 20 yrs on that at age 63 than spend those yrs retrying all the non opioid alternatives that I have already tried. All I have are Pharmacy records that pain management dr only see me as a drug abuser. What happened to the relationship of dr/patient? It’s government dr patient. Im a 63 yr old NJ chronic pain patient who has had no opioids for 2 long yrs, no medical records. Hasn’t slept more than 30 min in 48 hrs. I’m broken & in need of a real dr willing to prescribe to me so I can shower, walk farther than 6 ft without adding to my chronic pain from severe fractures in my 40 & bone disease diagnosed (risk high of fracture 5 yrs ago & neuropathic pain). New since stopped opioids. Could never abuse the only thing to help me to live a life with self function. I pray to be pain free again before I leave this place the lord placed me.

Christine, you are in a lot of pain and forced to suffer it because of this non-crisis. And you are in good company. I firmly believe that unless the actual DOCTORS speak out and lobby on our behalf, nothing will change. Our voice doesn't matter. At least, not enough to bring change. But, when DOCTORS speak, they are heard. Why....because they are the PROFESSIONALS. We are the consumers, so of course, we want to consume. Actually, I would rather not need these meds. As you, im sure. But I do. I'm not ready to throw in the towel and lay down and die....which is the only alternative for many. I'll be pushing up daisies soon enough. Why NOT allow us to finish our days with dignity, and a degree of comfort? At any point in history, any time period at all, people abused God-given resources that were provided for mankind to find relief from pain and suffering. Abuse is not new. Nothing new. But now....the focus is on opioids. Do-gooders have found a cause, dug in, and will lobby us, literally, out of existence. The stress alone, caused by untreated pain, will do further damage to a body already compromised.

So sad for you. But again, remember, you are not alone. Which is obvious reading these posts. Our good name and reputation has been sullied, by these stupid U/A's. Took benadryl? Sure, looks like benzo's. You're out a here, and don't expect to find a doc to take you! But....it was only benadryl, you say, I have allergies, or sometimes I use it for sleep. Don't care. Good luck, but we won't treat you. Christine, we happen to live in times where "do no harm" literally means do no harm except when treating those with chronic pain. They've come soooo far prolonging our lives. For that, I am grateful. It's so simple to keep us productive and relatively comfortable, but... you know, your test came back positive for benzos....

Wow, sorry, seems every time I start typing I end up in a rant. I do hope you get the help you need. Hugs.
