Difference In Np12 And K56 Oxycodone
(Newest replies first)

I have been taking Oxycodone 10mg NP/12, Zydus brand, for over a year. Last month the pharmacy changed to the K56, KVK tech brand, and they do not help with the pain at all. Zydus brand stops the pain and work find. The KVK don't do a thing. Can anyone tell me why?

It's all the same. Some ***** put down "I'm going to insufflate a pink 10". First of all if you're a legitimate pain patient why the hell would you insufflate anything? That's addiction. Second of all, if you need to do that kind of thing, go get some f****** help. Anyway, the reason I get angry about that type of behaviour is because I'm a legitimate patient that has a shortened lifespan and a**holes like that have to come online and talk about addictive s*** like that. Anyway sorry. Also let me add whatever the milligram, you're going to find many different generics but it's all the same thing. End of story.
Re: Maddieice (# 8)
I just googled the difference. I hate these new ones k56. I am finding myself to be more dependant on these than I ever was on the np12. I hate the k56. I only took when I absolutely needed them for pain with fibromyalgia now I'm finding I need to take the k56 to stop the withdraw effect :(
Re: Turkmann (# 4)
I live in Baltimore and yes, ppl like the dark pink ones (k56) over the light pink ones(np12). Ppl say they r stronger !
I have been on Percocet due to a failed back surgery for pretty much 4 years straight. I was worried about all the acetaminophen I've been taking so they just switched me to the NP 12. I don't feel like they are helping with my pain at all. As to the question about the K56 not working as well as the K56. I have run into this same issue with Percocet. If generics are available my insurance usually doesn't cover the brand name. Generics have a "range" of specs they have to meet. I'm thinking I read it or saw it on TV where generics could have 80% of the dose to be labeled as the full dose. I have noticed differences in strength between generics in Percocet. 80% of 10mg would be a lot.
That is shocking as that brand is crap, it's replacing the kvk k56 brands everywhere because it's much cheaper and full of buffer, not hardly any narcotic in them. I've been on the kvk brand for years and they are REAL medication opiates and immediate release... they are trying to get people off opiates and suppliers are making a fortune off this generic version!!! They are from other countries so not monitored by FDA.
The pharmacies actually shop for the cheapest manufacturer that is available every 6 months. It has happened with both of my pain medications. Both oxycodone and ms contin are you constantly being shopped for. I had to spend two or three weeks waiting for my pharmacy to order them from the manufacturer that I was originally getting them from. The new companies product was noticeably less potent, and also had a very different consistency. One was a normal tablet, that was chalky and powdery. The new ones were almost a plastic consistency. I have to cut my medicine in half, and my pill cutter was broken after trying to cut one. The razor bladein the pill splitter had a bend in it from how hard it was.
It depends on a persons system.. Np 12 is hated n bmore.. K 56 is a winner
Funny I was taking the KVK brand & just switched to the Zydus & total opposite effect the KV K brand work way better for me and now that I have switched I've already taken 20 MGs and I almost feel nothing
So I think it's just the switch and then your body has to get used to it
I also have been taking oxycodone KVK – Tech, 10 mg, for several years. One day I was given the Zydus generic, and found it to be faster, and more effective with my pain relief, and I experienced fewer side effects. I then asked my pharmacy to supply the Zydus every month. Unfortunately, they often did not have the medication, only the KVK-Tech. Now the workers comp insurance has switched to mailing the medication, and only the KVK-Tech is available to me. It is too bad that one company servers so many pharmacies throughout the US. It creates a very limited choice for customers and patients who have more individualized needs. They claim the principal medication is exactly the same, but I wonder about the quality, as well as the additional fillers. If one has allergies, or absorption problems, it truly makes a difference what they are taking. Customers need better advocacy and choices when it comes to medication. But as is common with much of the healthcare industry today, it is the bottom line only that counts. The patients lose out in quality care.
@BC Survivor,
Just wanted to let to you know that you're not alone in thinking that that KVK Tech brand is noticeably less potent. Just have a look at some of the following discussion threads here to see what others have to say about it:
Discuss/kvk-tech-oxycodone-30-mg-265090.htm
Discuss/kvk-tech-oxycodone-30mg-IR-262212.htm
Discuss/Kvk-Tech-Oxycodone-10mg-Inactive-Ingredients-247493.htm
I for one think it has to do with them using different inactive ingredients than other manufacturers. From what I understand, this alone can affect bioavailability/absorption. If you want to compare it with another tablet, looking at the inactive ingredients is probably going to be your best bet in order to find out why they work differently.
I hope this helps!
