Difference Between Amoc Tr K Clv And Amoxicillin Clavulic Acid - Augmentin Vs Generic
(Newest replies first)

Updated

My physician ordered Augmentin but insurance only paid for the generic. I have a sinus infection and have been on amox tr-k clv for 4 days now. I have not had any relief yet. It didn't help and I wonder why? I feel that generic meds are not working for me. I know that all generic drugs are chemically made different than the Brand drug in this case Augmentin. Would the brand have worked better? My concern is this terrible headaches I am still having around my eye socket (has not improved after 4 days on the generic drug). Should I not have some relief by now on the generic drug?

Re: Verwon (# 1) Expand Referenced Message

Hi you may not have a sinus infection. I get similar symptoms. My doctor prescribed antihistamines and a steroid nasal spray. It helps a little. I have had antibiotics before and they did not work.

There can be a big difference in 1 generic to another. I had hangover/flu like symptoms after taking Citron generic amoxicillin. It was a big pink oval pill, with imprint A on one side and 67 on other side. It said Citron pharma on the bottle. I think it is owned by Aurobindo. Get a paper RX and call around to see what generics stores carry, or ask for brand name and use the GoodRx card to get a discount.

Hello, Mary! How are you? I'm sorry that you're so ill.

According to the FDA, generics have to work in the same manner and be bioequivalent, so they are considered the same.

And the general rule is that once you are on an antibiotic, if it's working, you shouldn't see any worsening after taking it for a full 24 hours and you should see improvement after 3 full days. This medication is listed as possibly causing side effects that may include nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.

However, there is a chance that the bacteria causing your infection is resistant to it, or it might not be the right one to treat it. Have you consulted your doctor? You might need to try a different antibiotic.
