Diet Doctors Casually Prescribing Phentermine

I have a spouse who has been a patient at an area Weight Loss MD clinic for many years. She has been on and off Phentermine throughout that time. I spoke to two representatives at Weight Loss MD and was very dismayed to learn that their physicians would not necessarily withhold prescribing Phentermine to a long-term alcoholic. Alcoholism is considered to be a drug addiction. My spouse has been abusing alcohol since she took her first drink, about 40 years ago.

Just as disconcerting is the fact that my wife is not obese, yet she recently obtained another Phentermine prescription from a physician at her local Weight Loss MD clinic. There is reason to believe the drug is primarily being used for purposes other than weight loss.

I have also observed acute signs of "phen rage" in my spouse almost every time she takes the drug. This doesn’t pair well with her already problematic menopause rage.

Phentermine can also have a stimulating type of effect, so that may be why she's taking it.

Does she have a regular family doctor that she sees regularly?

The FDA does warn that Phentermine can be abused, and may be habit forming, so if she has a regular doctor, it might be a good idea to inform them of what's going on, so intervention action can be taken, if they feel it's necessary. They can't discuss her information with you, without her permission, but you can call them and express your concerns.
