Ive been taking oxycode/acetaminophen 10/325mg prescribed from my DR cuz of my reconstructed leg ihave a metal rod intwined with the bone sfor chronic pain. My story it started a family member was hospitalized for 6 days n i took care of him there basicly as a nurse in Tijuana Mexico n i was there with out my prescbibed medication 4 pain during those 6 days i dident eat, sleep n drinking 5-6 redbulls a day to gets nergy n to help in n e way with the withdrawing cuz i dident have my presc. meds. Went back home n laned in the E.R. then hospital. my dr made a drastic change to my medication from 200 perccocet 10mg once a month to 30 Norco 5mg a month my body is use to what meds ive always had. Drs reason forthe drastic change was cuz i had Overdosed on my meds cuz the ER Dr messaged saying that. When ER DR said to me while i was ER that all that happen cuz i have no meds in my body n cuz redbull n he also said the anser to this problem is get my meds back n he did i got perccocet. So i went home n my primary DR calls me telling everything i just xplain. i already told him the 5mg norco dosent help at all n he continues with same. My question is, what i do is he in the wrong. shouldnt he meet me half way? listen to the patient on how it affects me????!!!!!

I am very sorry about the problem that you're having.

However no, your doctor isn't obligated to prescribe you anything and treat you, at all, just as you are under no obligation to continue as their patient. Doctors are only required to treat someone if their life is in danger.

If the ER doctor reported it as an overdose, then it would be normal for your doctor to react this way and quite amazing that they still prescribe anything, actually.

Do you have the ER report? Getting that and showing it to your doctor may help.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
