Dicyclomine/bentyl Drug Screen

I am taking 20 mg and I was wondering if this medication can cause a false positive for benzos? I just took a drug screen yesterday and it read positive for benzos, but I don't take them.

Hey let me tell you the exact same thing just happened to me today at my suboxone doctors office. I was racking my brain trying to figure out why benzodiazepines showed up in my drug screen because I hadn't taken anything but immodium ad and bentyl other than my suboxone. But my doctor said it could have been the immodium (loperamide) but I completely forgot to tell him I took the bentyl also until I had already left his office. I Hope this helps someone else

Yes, Bentyl has been known to cause false positives according to NIH report logs.

While some doctors aren't willing to do so, they should be able to send your sample out to a professional lab for further testing. More precise reagents can determine exactly what was taken, because they can do better at determining the specifics of the metabolites that were detected.

There are actually many medications that can cause false positives, including over the counter products, such as Tylenol.
