Hi Roger,
From what I could gather, the usual adult dose of Diclofenac ranges from 25-50 mg orally 3 to 4 times a day or 75 mg orally twice a day.
Diclofenac Extended-release dosages are usually administered at 100 mg orally once a day.
A number of webpages also make a point of mentioning that the maximum daily dose of Diclofenac is: 225 mg; or 200 mg if you're taking the extended release version.
In my opinion, 75mg twice daily (150 mg total daily dose) should be fine for most individuals. However, dangerous side effects can happen with any drug depending the person. It's probably not something you'd want to take long term, but as long as your using it properly and live an otherwise healthy lifestyle I don't see any reason to be overly concerned.
In fact, there's an article on a gov. webpage that refers to Diclofenac as one of the safest agents of its kind for the treatment of a broad range of rheumatic conditions:
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/3909410
I hope this helps!
