Dr. prescribed Megestrol 40mg twice daily to surpress my period (they are really heavy due to uterine polyps--haven't s heded removal yet). I had diarrhea every day for a week and trouble sleeping. Stopped taking the Megestrol because of the side effects. Has anyone else experienced this and did it eventually stop or do you just live with it? Not sure which is the lesser of two evils.

Most side effects are transient and usually go away in about 4 to 5 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication, as reported by the NIH.

When taking this medication, you may also experience nausea, headache and spotting.

If it gets severe, you should inform your doctor.

Is there anything else I can help with?
