Dexilant 30mg Vs Omeprazole 40mg

Is Omeprazole stronger than Dexilant 30mg? If I switch from Omeprazole 40mg to Dexilant 30mg will I have rebound acid? Is anyone PPI better for Ulcer healing than the other?

No, they all work the same, it's really just a matter of which one works for you. These dosages are actually equivalent.

And no again, since they work the same way to treat the same conditions, you shouldn't have any rebound acidity.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of PPIs as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, flatulence and stomach pain.

I Notice Dexilant is for esophagus inflammation and Prilosec does not have that action listed.
The reason I ask I have a very annoying dry cough caused by my GERD.
I was wondering if I took Prilosec 40mg in AM 30 min prior to eating and Dexilant 60mg in the pm(either before or after supper?) would this help control my cough.
I know stress and nasal drainage all activate my cough.
I currently take Prilosec 40 mg BID and have not noticed much difference in helping decrease my cough from being increased to this dose.
I was taking Prilosec QD in AM.
Have been on increased dose of Prilosec for approx. 3 months?
