Desval Er 250mg

My freind everyday takes a dose of Desval ER 250 in the night. I would like to know the risk if in case he gives a gap and due to some reason not able to have Desval ER 250. And I would like to know the desease as to why doctor prescribe this. Is it that he has to be on Medicine all his life..

Desval ER contains a time released formulation of Divalproex, which is an anticonvulsant, it is commonly given to prevent seizures, but is also sometimes used to treat mood disorders.

And if he runs out and doesn't have it, he does face the risk of seizures, even if that isn't what he was taking it for, because this a sudden withdrawal could cause rebound effects.

As to whether or not he is on it for life, that depends on what he is taking it to treat. If he has epilepsy, then yes, there is chance he will always require this or a similar medication.
