Depakote - Switch From Northstar Supplier

I've been on Depakote for years and the distributor was Northstar. Safeway has switched to Sun Pharmacy distributors and I have bad stomach cramps now. Can new brand cause this? Anyone else have problems and how can I find out who carries Northstar product?

There can be difference from one manufacturer to the other, there are allowable fluctuations in the amount of the active ingredient and the inactive ingredients can be completely different. Since you've been taking it for so long, it might be one of those factors that's caused the problem.

Have you tried asking the pharmacy about ordering the Northstar one in for you? You may have to pay any price different between it and the other one, but they can usually do this for their customers.

I was resonantly prescribed Depakote for Paresthesia: sensation, as tingling or numbness, sometimes lose control of my feet and legs. I didn't go pick up my prescription because. I couldn't fine anything showing that Depakote was used to treat this. The Pharmacist couldn't find anything on it either. So I haven't started Depakote yet.

The Neurologist first prescribed a child's dose of Topamax 25 mg for Paresthesia, I could not take Topamax because this drug causes presser behind the eyes. I have glaucoma so I could not take Topamax.

Does anyone know if Depakote treats Paresthesia and what are the side effects?

Unfortunately Safeway only purchases from new distributor with no access to Northstar distribution. I'm still checking other retailers who may receive product from Northstar
