Dentiguard Mouthwash From Aldi

OK, I'm going to write my experiences with using this dentiguard crap from ALDI grocery and put everything on a time line and see what you think. starting 12-26-2010 about one week ago I started using a mouthwash from ALDI after about two to three days my tongue started to get real sore and looked like some acid was eating it away, didn't think it was the mouthwash so I continued to use as directed on the bottle 20ML or four teaspoons, going into the third day my tongue started to swell up and little tiny sores appeared and like I said I didn't think it was the mouthwash, after I additional day of using this product I couldn't take it any more so went to my local Wall-mart and bought some six in 1 total care Listerine and it burned like HELL and after 2 days of just using that sores and swelling went down and thought I was all good, tongue didn't hurt so I chugged the first bottle water I can stand, Figi water, after one day of eating cause I was hungry and thirsty, my throat started to feel like something was down there and when you swallow you can feel what appears to be a lump of some sort.
Scared of whats going on I went to the hospital where of course they said that the X-rays showed nothing, strep test was negative and they didn't even seem interested in being a doctor god I hate U of L so bad, meanwhile I'm sitting there and If I didn't keep enough water in my throat, it felt like it was swelling, closing, I asked them to analyze my blood or whatever they do to see whats going on at a cell level they wouldn't and told me I was wrong point blank and said it was a upper respiratory infection, even though the X-rays showed my lungs where clear and gave a good bill of health, so I just sat there thinking one day lord, After researching the ingredients the only one I feel it responsible it the Methyl salicylate 0.060% Upon further reading it is a mint oil used to flavor mouthwash and other things, at this website: emedicine.medscape.com/article/1009987 - it says used as pain reliever and other products have the similar properties, So here's my theory, whether it's right I don't know yet but after stopping use and drinking, and eating regularly the toxins remained in my tongue weather it was in the pores or adsorbed and when I chugged the water sent that Methyl salicylate down my throat and it was high enough for the mint oil to act as a numbing agent. I'm thirty one years old and when I talk I sound like a 60 year old man.
What could I do scientifically to determine that it was the mouthwash before jumping the gun, I thought about taking it to a lab somewhere and if they found something that proves my theory the test would be free or pay at a later date. Just need some guidance as I'm afraid my voice may never return to normal. Also one more thing, I have not changed anything in my diet or lifestyle in anyway, using that mouthwash was the only change in my life. I'm not trying to say it was or not, but this reaction is too coincidental, so when the symptoms started, I used a different mouthwash to counter the reaction, chugged water, new and even worse symptoms start even though they say they can't find anything wrong, I know what and how I feel, and I will tell any doctor, don't care how long they been practicing you are WRONG I'M RIGHT. and last thing. I tried to research the actual product, the only I can really find out is that it's a Japanese product, don't know if that makes a difference. Thanks for listening and I'll stop ranting.

Re: Ntepek (# 1)
I too have had an allergic reaction to this mouthwash. First one side of my tongue swelled up and I couldn’t speak properly it took 24hours to recede. Last night my whole upper lip swelled up, I look like Marg Simpson or someone with a bad Botox experience, I also suffered nausea. In the bin it goes!!
I have used this Dentiguard mouthwash from Aldi for many, many years. My dental exams have found no cavities. If I leave it in my mouth too long it irritates my mouth, so I rinse and quickly spit it out. My problem now is that Aldi's has discontinued selling it. Now I am looking for another place to buy it. I tried Lavoris but it is too weak and I don't think it is strong enough to kill any bacteria.
@BBQman ,
I'm sorry to hear about what has happened to you. I did some research and I found that Methyl salicylate can cause allergic reactions in some people, including problems with the respiratory tract and difficulty breathing. Alcohol, the main ingredient in most mouthwashes, dries and denatures mucous membranes in the mouth and can also change the pH of the mouth and throat. My guess is that you may have had a serious allergic reaction to the Methyl Salicylate and the Alcohol just intensified the problems.
Also, I recommend picking up some saliva pH strips to test your mouth's acidity level. Having acidic saliva could also be the cause of issues within the lining of the esophagus. My boyfriend's dad recently had issues with his esophagus do to a diet full of acidic foods like meat, coffee, and dairy- so it's just something to keep in mind. He's recently made some positive changed to his diet and is doing a lot better.
Coconut water is very alkaline so you may want to "consider" drinking some occasionally for your overall health (as long as you don't have an allergy to coconuts).

I hope the info/advice is helpful!
Dentiguard has been working fine for my wife and me for a couple of years.
Wow, you sound like you like to complain A LOT. These experiences aren't common. I have been using Dentiguard mouthwash for several years and I have had an incredible experience with this product.
I have just had a problem with Dentiment 2Phase, 500ml bottle bought today from Aldi. It tasted greasy and left my mouth feeling anything like fresh. I googled the product and found it was subject to a product recall by other stores as far back as 9th April 2009. You have to ask the question WHY WAS IT STILL ON SALE IN ALDI.
Not impressed. I am left wondering has it done my any damage to my health.
