Dental And Jaw Pain

I've been on Prolea for 1 month after multiple fractures of vertebrae . I've had a lot of dental problems since having my first shot... Increased cavities, one root canal and another one coming up tomorrow and a possible 3rd... My jaw pain gets almost unbearable, never had any of this before... I wish there would be a way to reverse that shot! there has to be something else to help my bones get stronger...

Prolea, and most other osteoporosis treatments are known to possibly cause dental issues as side effects, along with joint aches, it could also make it slower for you to heal, after having dental work done, so please make sure your dentist is aware that you have been given Prolia.

Yes, there are other options, but as I've already stated, they all carry the risk of causing the same issues. My mother-in-law couldn't take any of them, the side effects for her were horrible, so she stopped, and refused to keep taking anything. She's just taking supplements, and making sure to drink her milk, each day.

Are you on any other medications?

So sorry you are taking Prolia. My rheumy who is into research said they were taking it off the market as there were enough cases to prove it causes boney growths under the tongue. I had two doses ...6 months apart in 2014 and developed a boney growth over my eye socket. The stuff is very dangerous. I am surprised they are working on your teeth as they usually won't once you've been on any bone meds.
