My son has been on Purbac for about 3 weeks and about 2 weeks into the treatment he developed a bad rash and temp which he still has 10 days later. Doctors say he has a virus but it does not seem to be improving. Can you develop an allergic reaction 2 weeks after taking Purbac or would the allergic reaction occur instantly

Hello, Dee! How is your son doing? So sorry about the problems that he's having.

And yes!!!! An allergic reaction can occur that long after starting it. One of the active ingredients in this is a sulfa based antibiotic called Sulfamethoxazole and it happened to me last year. I made it 9 days into a 10 day course of taking it and broke out in the rash, fever, swollen glands and etc.

Learn more Purbac details here.

Generally, it only gets worse if someone continues to take it, so you should talk to his doctor about switching him to a different antibiotic.

Are there any other questions or concerns?
