Darvocet For Mother

My 92 year old mother used Darvocet for extreme back pain until it was removed from the market. She only used it when she felt pain coming on, not continually. No more than 2 per day when in pain and never had trouble while taking it. Now she is often bed bound because of her pain. Is there any other medication that might work for extreme pain like hers? Her life has changed dramatically since she can't use Darvocet. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it! Thanks

Darvocet was removed from the market, because it caused regularly increasing risks of overdose, while being a very mild, and largely ineffective pain reliever, so its risks far outweighed any possible benefits.

There are many other safer, more effective medications available, however, only her doctor can help her discover what might be safe for her to try.

Is she on any other medications? What is causing her back pain?
